Breitling unveils Seoul flagship with a cafe and its first restaurant

Breitling opened its largest flagship, the 8,000-square-foot Breitling Townhouse Hannam. Located in the fashionable Hannam district of Seoul, South Korea, known for its international embassies and luxury fashion flagships, the space combines retail with a Breitling Café, terrace, and the first-ever restaurant, Breitling Kitchen. The Breitling Townhouse’s combination of retail with food and beverage will make it a top destination in this vibrant area.

All Breitling boutiques are designed as chic industrial lofts that combine vintage decor with streamlined contemporary design for a modern-retro feel. A second recurring motif is “air, sea, and land” – the three universes that the Breitling watch families were developed for. In the Breitling Townhouse Hannam, these design themes are very prominent.

The flagship boutique is a 2,000-square-foot retail space that has Breitling’s latest watch collections on display in an aviation-lounge-inspired atmosphere. The brand’s newest flagship is also home to Breitling Equipment – a shop-in-shop that carries tools and accessories inspired by Breitling’s universes.

Breitling Kitchen is the brand’s first-ever restaurant led by chef Kim Hyeong-Kyu. Guests can choose from seating zones themed by air, sea, and land or reserve a private dining room in the Breitling universe of their choice. Breitling Café is an inviting street-level coffee shop that serves a well-crafted selection of specialty coffees, freshly baked goods, and fine patisseries.

Customers and visitors can also enjoy an outdoor seating area that serves as both an extension to the café and private event space. Vintage Corridor is a walk-through heritage experience that tells the Breitling story with interactive displays.

This opening gives a clue at what to expect from Breitling as a leader in the neo-luxury space.

  • Breitling bows two new stores in Macau

Breitling bows two new stores in Macau

Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling is expanding its reach in Asia, opening two new stores in Macau.

Located in luxury malls Shoppes at Venetian and Shoppes at Parisian in Macau, the new boutiques sell a full selection of timepiece models from the entire Breitling and ‘Breitling for Bentley ‘ collections. The chronographs come equipped with ‘Manufacture Breitling movements, as well as special limited ‘Boutique Editions’.

Each Macau boutique has been designed with old and new world characteristics, typical of Breitling. The décor also highlights the brand’s aeronautical heritage, enabling “visitors to plunge directly into the Breitling universe, a unique experience that excites the senses,” said Breitling in a statement.

Both stores boast a VIP lounge, offering customers a one-on-one, personalised shopping experience.

Breitling was founded in 1884. Since then, it has played a crucial role in the development of the wrist chronograph. Breitling is also one of the rare companies to produce its own mechanical chronograph movements, entirely developed and manufactured in its own workshops. This family business is also one of the last remaining independent Swiss watch brands.

Shoppes at Parisian Macau, which only opened in September this year, hosts 170 luxury and lifestyle brands in its 320,000 square feet retail space. The new Breitling Macau Parisian store is located at Place Vendome on Level 3.

Shoppes at Venetian is located inside the Sands Shoppes, the largest mall in Macau offers with more than 850 duty free outlets. The new Breitling store is in the Great Hall, on Level 3.

  • David Beckham splits with H&M

    David Beckham splits with H&M

David Beckham has split with fashion retailer H&M – and he’s being upstaged by a Canadian pop star with a hairdo worse than Donald Trump’s…

H&M introduced its first Beckham Bodywear collection featuring form-fitting underwear in 2012 and expanded the partnership to include a broader range of garments including jerseys and light summer suits dubbed Modern Essentials in March 2015. There’s even been a Beckham raincoat.

But now the brand believes it is time for a change. It has signed up Grammy-winning R&B artist Abel Tesfaye, 26, who performs under the deliberately misspelled name The Weeknd, for a one-off menswear collection which will go on sale from March. The chain believes the new signing will appeal to younger shoppers than Beckham, now 41.

According to Bloomberg, H&M said it would not rule out future collaborations with Beckham, who also has partnerships with Hong Kong-based Global Brands, endorses Adidas shoes, Breitling watches and Samsung smartphones.

An H&M spokeswoman told Bloomberg there was no direct link between the end of the Beckham partnership and the signing of Tesfaye.

The singer will choose his favourite items for an H&M collection to be called Spring Icons Selected by The Weeknd.

    Queuing for Kenzo

Meanwhile, H&M’s collaboration with fashion label Kenzo launched yesterday, leading to queues outside two stores in Singapore where the collection was on sale – in the Orchard Building and at Ion Orchard.

The Orchard Building store opened at 8am and by 7.30am about 100 people were lined up outside the store. Some at the front of the queue had reportedly arrived on Tuesday morning, presumably holding the place in shifts.
