Moleskine opens its first retail store in SEA

It’s been a big year for Brioni. The fashion house has marked its 65th year by collaborating with us on our ’Wallpaper* Handmade… in Italy’ exhibition, opening several new stores and – of course – throwing a large party. And now it is celebrating the milestone with a commemorative Moleskine notebook, which it’s giving to friends of the brand, illustrated by the whimsical hand of the artist, Carlo Stanga.

Eschewing fashion’s customary glossy images, Stanga has created a series of playful and informal vignettes depicting the tailoring brand’s history and identity. On one page, a team of tiny characters spills from the pockets of a giant suit jacket as they carry out its finishing touches. And on another, there are a series of Brioni-clad Oscars, with a caption that reads: ’Brioni conquers Hollywood.’

’We were attracted to Carlo’s work by his fresh and modern stroke,’ says Brioni. The brand has a large archive of illustrations. From its inception in 1945, up until the 1970s, it collaborated with artist, Luigi Tarquini. ’We feel that illustration is a warmer art form than photography,’ the fashion house explains.

Next up for Brioni is the opening of its new stores in China and Düsseldorf, plus September will see its first fashion show with Alessandro Dell’Acqua at the creative team’s helm.

Brioni opened second store in HK

The Italian brand announced the opening of its second store in Hong Kong. The store is located on level two of the IFC mall at the Central Waterfront. The store interior pays tribute to the brand’s city of origin, Rome, by using Travertine marble. A coloured Italian marble column decorates the store’s entrance and rosewood panels are a reference to a men’s private space.

The store has dedicated areas for Brioni’s formalwear, leisurewear and accessories.

To celebrate the opening, Brioni has opened a pop-up exhibition in the oval atrium at the mall. Featuring a 5.5m replica of Michelangelo’s David dressed in a tuxedo, the ‘Masterful Tailoring Meets a Masterpiece’ installation required almost 100 hours of work by a team of specialists led by the brand’s chief master tailor.

Whilst the bespoke service is a cornerstone of the menswear company’s identity, it also sells ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, eyewear and fragrance.

Brioni’s first store in Hong Kong is located at the Element shopping centre in Kowloon.

Brioni Cambodia opens in Phnom Penh

Italian luxury menswear brand Brioni has opened its first boutique in Cambodia, at the luxury Vattanac Capital Mall in the heart of Phnom Penh’s emerging business and financial district.

It was launched with a private cocktail event featuring evening jackets from the Brioni archive and representing seven decades of the brand’s history.

Covering 100 sqm, the inaugural Brioni Cambodia boutique offers formalwear, leisurewear and accessories in an atmosphere that is described as melding the masculinity of a gentleman’s club with the elegance of a private “dressing room”. Both traditional and contemporary in approach, it features glass surfaces and bronzed brass, Eramosa marble, bahia wood with brass inserts, Navona travertine floors, and ceilings enriched with a sophisticated lighting system.

“The economy in this market is seeing robust growth and we believe in its potential,” says Brioni CEO Gianluca Flore.

Founded in Rome in 1945, Brioni designs, develops and manufactures exclusive Su Misura garments and ready-to-wear collections as well as leather goods (handbags, small leather goods and luggage), shoes, eyewear and fragrance. The house of Brioni is part of global luxury and sport and lifestyle group Kering.
