Tata Altroz Spotted In India Sans Camouflage

The upcoming Tata Altroz premium hatchback was recently spotted in India sans camouflage. The spy photo posted by the forum Supercharged is claimed to have been taken at Tata Motors’ plant, and thus we can also see a few Tata Harrier SUVs around it. The car appears to be production ready and comes in the same Yellowish-Gold shade that we saw on the Altroz showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. Expected to be launched around mid-2019, this photo indicates that the carmaker might soon be ready to begin full-scale production of the Tata Altroz.

Visually, the car appears to be identical to the Tata Altroz unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, which could mean that the India-spec model will be similar to the global-spec Altroz. The model seen here appears to be the top-spec variant, and it seems to come with LED lightings like – LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, electrically operable ORVMs with turn lights, and LED taillamps. However, the car gets a different set of alloy wheels, compared to the show cars seen at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Tata Altroz is built on the company’s new ALFA Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) Architecture and will be the first model to get the underpinnings of this new platform. Furthermore, the design and styling are a part of the company new Impact Design 2.0 philosophy, which was also used for the Tata Harrier. While we do not get to see the cabin of the car in these images, similar to the exterior, the interior too is likely to remain identical to the car showcased in Geneva. Expected features include a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi-digital instrument cluster, multi-functional steering wheel, and a host of other premium creature comforts.

Under the hood, the Tata Altroz will borrow its powertrain options from the Nexon, featuring the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, along with the option of both, a manual and an automatic transmission. Upon its launch, the car will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, and Hyundai i20.

  • Shelby Mustang GT500 Could Be Launched Soon In India

Shelby Mustang GT500 Could Be Launched Soon In India

Pune-based AJP Group is likely to launch the much-loved Shelby Mustang GT500 in India this year. The multi-brand enterprise, which recently appointed Manas Dewan as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), said that the company has partnered with performance auto brands like Scomadi Scooters and Shelby. And we have reasons to believe that the first car to come from the latter will be the new 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500. It was just early this year in January that Ford performance-oriented pony car made its official debut at the 2019 Detroit Motor Show, and it’s possible that the car could come to India by the end of this year.

At the moment neither Dewan nor any other company spokesperson was available to provide us with an official confirmation about the Shelby GT500’s arrival. However, it’s clear that AJP is likely to serve as the technical partner for Shelby in India, handling modifications and upgrades, and as is the case globally sales, services and warranty bits could be handled by Shelby and Ford India.

Although based on the regular Mustang, this particular GT500 tuned by Shelby is the most powerful Ford car. The Shelby GT500 is powered by a hand-built supercharged 5.2-litre aluminium alloy engine with inverted a 2.65-litre roots-type supercharger and air-to-liquid intercooler tucked neatly in the V8 engine valley and is tuned to churn out around 700 bhp. The Shelby GT500 gets a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which can shift smoothly in less than 100 milliseconds. This dual-clutch transmission is designed for a number of drive modes, including normal, slippery, sport, drag and track, and features line-lock and rpm-selectable launch control through selectable Track Apps.

Visually, the car carries the signature Shelby character merged with the Ford Mustang’s design, like the large grille with the Cobra at the centre, sporty front bumper with a lip spoiler, 20-inch carbon fibre wheels. The car also comes with 0.5-inch-wider rear wheels (11.5-inch), custom Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, adjustable exposed carbon fibre GT4 track wing and splitter wickers with integrated dive plane. Then we also have the signature twin racing strips running from front to back.

The car also gets a race car-inspired cabin with premium materials and unique finishes with fibre instrument panel applique and new door panel inserts in Dark Slate Miko suede with accent stitching. The dashboard features an 8-inch SYNC 3 touch screen featuring SiriusXM and FordPass Connect, along with a 12-inch full-colour LCD instrument cluster as well. The car also gets a high-performance custom-tuned 12-speaker B&O play premium audio system.

  • Hyundai’s Palisade premiers at LA Auto Show

Hyundai’s Palisade premiers at LA Auto Show

The Palisade, Hyundai Motor’s latest effort to rework its lineup in the direction of globally-popular SUVs, was premiered at the 2019 LA Auto Show on Wednesday. Chung Eui-sun, Hyundai Motor’s executive vice chairman, was in attendance. The eight-seat vehicle is the biggest model in Hyundai Motor’s SUV lineup, which includes the small Kona, the midsize Tucson and the Santa Fe.

The vehicle “looks good,” Chung said after the introduction at the LA Convention Center.

When asked if the Palisade will boost sales in the U.S. market, Chung replied “it remains to be seen” and estimated the carmaker’s sales target next year to be “similar to this year’s or a little more than that.”

Hyundai Motor, with its sedan-oriented lineup, is seen as being behind the curve with its a-bit-too-late SUV launches. In attending the event in LA, Chung missed the launch of the Genesis G90 in Korea, suggesting that the priority lies with the Palisade.

With a spacious interior and convenient features throughout the three rows in the back, the Palisade has been developed to suit families.

“From the driver’s seat to the third row in the back, [the Palisade] suits contemporary customers who have a desire for individual space while also providing comfortable space just like home,” Brian Smith, chief operating officer of Hyundai Motor America, said at the press event Wednesday.

The car is equipped with a roof air ventilation system, which circulates the air inside the car from the first row to the third row to enhance the air quality. It enables passengers in each row to control the air conditioning on their own. There are USB ports for charging electronic devices in each row as well.

Two engine types are available: the 2.2-liter diesel and 3.8-liter gasoline. Hyundai Motor started taking preorders in Korea on Thursday and will launch the vehicle officially in December. It will launch in the United States next year.

The diesel version price starts at 36.2 million won ($32,300) and the gasoline model 34.7 million won.

Kia Motors, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor, premiered the fully-revamped version of its Soul at the LA Auto Show. It unveiled the electric version of the car as well as the Niro EV.

The new Soul and the Soul EV will launch in Korea and in global markets in the first quarter of next year.

Some hefty SUV models from global carmakers were on display at the LA Auto Show. BMW premiered the X7 SUV and Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Maybach GLS, the first SUV model under the premium Maybach label.

Lincoln, a premium Ford brand, unveiled the seven-seater, three-row Aviator SUV, and Jeep showcased the Gladiator, a midsize pick-up truck.
