According to Jollibee’s CFO Ysmael Baysa, the company’s global sales have seen strong growth this year, including in its home base in the Philippines, partly driven by concerted efforts to expand Jollibee’s store network.

“We look forward to the recovery of Jollibee profit margins in the Philippines next year and the significant improvement in the profit performance of our new businesses in the next one to two years,” he said.

Beyond its own franchise, Jollibee operates the Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon and Smashburger brands in various worldwide locations. It currently has 3003 stores worldwide, with more set to open in the immediate future in Malaysia and Guam.

Philippine foodservice giant Jollibee Foods (JFC) has entered into a JV agreement with Singapore-based Blackbird Holdings to take the Jollibee brand to the European market.

JFC’s wholly owned subsidiary Golden Plate has signed the deal with Blackbird to own and run the first Jollibee store in Italy. Golden Plate and Blackbird will incorporate a Singapore company, a 75:25 JV, with Golden Plate holding the controlling stake. The two companies are looking at investing more than US$1 million in the JV.

Established in 2014, Blackbird has investments both in Singapore and the Philippines in the F&B and other sectors.
Jollibee says Golden Plate will have full management control of the JV and the first store. Jollibee’s strategy is still to find a territorial franchisee for Italy with the capability to develop and expand the brand there.

Jollibee Foods (JFC) has opened the 991st branch of its flagship brand Jollibee in the Philippines, in the Ma-a area of Davao.

It marks the start of its countdown to its 1000th store, to be unveiled in the first quarter of next year. Its expansion is spread around Cebu, Luzon and Metro Manila “so all the regions will be well represented”, says Jollibee corporate PR and events manager Dennis Reyes.
