  • Inditex suffers from late coming winter

Inditex suffers from late coming winter

Zara owner Inditex has posted slow like-for-like sales growth due to the unusually warm autumn and adverse currency moves. Inditex, which also owns upmarket label Massimo Dutti and teen label Bershka, posted a 3 per cent rise in like-for-like sales in the six months to the end of November after an “extraordinarily warm September”. Sales bounced back somewhat to 5 per cent in October and November.

The fashion giant reported an increase in earnings before interest and tax of €3.07 billion from the previous corresponding period.

In the first nine months of the year, the world’s largest fashion retailer reported a 3 per cent increase in sales to €18.4 billion and a 4 per cent rise in net profits to €2.4 billion.

According to Inditex, the company didn’t have to cut clothing prices from September like its rivals, which resulted in margin growth of 108 basis points during the third quarter.

The clothing retailer maintained sales and margin guidance for the rest of the year.

Pablo Isla, Inditex chair and CEO, said the group’s strong business model, which continues to deliver solid structural growth in all markets, and its constant focus on developing the integrated store and online platform through continued enhancement of technology and systems, have contributed to its performance.

The company announced last September that all products from all its brands will be made available online by 2020, including in markets where it does not have any stores.

Isla had said that Inditex wants to make all fashion collections available to all customers wherever they are in the world.

“Even in those markets which do not currently have our bricks-and-mortar stores,” Isla added.

Other than Zara, Massimo Dutti and Bershka, Inditex also sells the brands Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho and Uterque across its network of almost 7500 physical shops. It operates online in 49 markets.

  • Moschino launches limited edition for Hong Kong

Moschino launches limited edition for Hong Kong

November 15, Harbour City welcomed a new pop-up store by Moschino with an exclusive collection designed  by Jeremy Scott, Creative Director of the brand, for Hong Kong only. Colorful, ironic, super glamorous and absolutely Moschino: these are the qualities of the collection made exclusively for Hong Kong. The collection represents the vibrant city and reflects the pop soul of Moschino’s Creative Director.

It is a triumph of colors. 12 pieces each adorned with fun multicolored patches: two T-shirts and a T-shirt dress, a hoodie, a sweater, a bomber jacket, 4 denim pieces, a backpack and a bag.

The Moschino logo is revisited in a super colorful version along with iconic graphics like the peace sign. Each letter and each symbol becomes a silk satin patch, applied to the pieces using a special zig-zag stitch technique and made even more ironic with graphics created in thread and crystals.

Moschino Hong Kong Exclusive Collection is available exclusively at Moschino stores in Hong Kong.

It is an incredible moment for the brand, that has been gaining popularity among Millennials and GEN Z thanks to the ironic touch brought by Jeremy Scott.

Earlier this year, Moschino gathered attention globally for its capsule collections in collaboration with H&M and Disney with celebrities such as Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell.

In the run-up to the official release, Moschino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott put on a celeb-tastic fashion show in New York. During the show, Gigi walked the runway in a hoodie printed with Moschino’s signature chain-print alongside her sister Bella in a zip-front black leather mini dress. Naomi Campbell closed the show in a silver sequinned hoodie dress and over-the-knee black quilted boots.

To catch momentum with the success of capsule collections, Moschino has also announced the launch of a new retail concept starting from the stores in Paris, which focuses on the creation of a design that facilitates the rotation of different collections throughout the year.

The design, thought to be a blank canvas ready to host diverse concepts at the same time, will be experimented in Europe to appeal to the new generation of customers.

If it is true that in the digital era,  the instant generation is no longer attracted by what is the promise of timeliness, limited editions aimed to satisfy a short-term desire of being among the happy few to win, it might be the key to steal the heart of GEN Z.

  • UNIQLO x ALEXANDER WANG Collection to be launced on November 9

UNIQLO x ALEXANDER WANG Collection to be launced on November 9

UNIQLO announced that it will launch the new UNIQLO and ALEXANDER WANG collaboration line in 20 countries and regions around the world on 9 November. In Singapore, the collection will first launch online at UNIQLO.com on 8 November and it will be available in stores from 9 November. The full range will be available at UNIQLO Orchard Central Global Flagship Store and through UNIQLO.com. Selected items will be available at all UNIQLO stores. The range takes the UNIQLO HEATTECH concept of enjoying light and fashionable dressing even in cold seasons and expresses it with new ideas, creating LifeWear that presents HEATTECH as more stylish wear.

Two images from the launch campaign Warmth Reimagined depict products in an ice block. The metaphorical visual aims to express the thought that HEATTECH transcends the cold and is warm enough to melt away the ice it is encased in. The campaign speaks to the idea that, even though these items are technically ‘innerwear,’ they may be worn as ‘outerwear’ or as visible layers. There is no reason to hide these beautiful, warming garments. Hence Warmth Reimagined.

The new collection of HEATTECH and HEATTECH Extra Warm items comprises fashionable innerwear with the original functionality of HEATTECH, allowing the wearer to be warm and stylish even in cold seasons. The silhouettes are sharp and slim overall, while the women’s tank top features a unique back design and can be styled with other pieces from the collection. HEATTECH underwear is available in both men’s and women’s lines for the first time. The men’s items include both briefs and boxers, while the women’s range has a bra and shorts. The waist is adorned with a logo, a design element for wearers to casually show.

The collaboration line includes a range of colours from Alexander Wang’s classic black to neon green. The line also incorporates neo-futuristic elements and sporty styling, such as glossy rib materials reminiscent of 80s fashion. The visual presentation of the comfortable, bias weave fabric is another characteristic of this collection. The fabric itself uniquely changes with body movement, with V-shaped patterns appearing on the surface.

  • GEOX Launches Women’s Footwear Collection Autumn/Winter 2016-2017

    GEOX Launches Women’s Footwear Collection Autumn/Winter 2016-2017

A breath of air is a source of life – a line where well-being starts and a symbol of sublime beauty and perfect function. Research and technology are stalwart companions in what Geox does.

Geox’s “cool comfort” range fuses creativity, lightness and flexibility – be it for urban days, classical events, sporty afternoons or glamorous evenings.

With the upcoming Winter season, the traditional qualities of breathability, thermo-regulation and water-tightness are bonded into Geox’s vanguard membrane and soles — further enhanced by the German TÜV SÜD FOOTWEAR MARK: that vouches for a rigorous control procedure on quality during production. The aim is to ensure harmful substances are not released during production. A mark of quality assurance is only right given Geox’s unflagging attention to standards and commitment towards society and the environment.

One of these models is Sfinge, engineered with a hive of spaces which exalts its springiness, grip and cushioning sole. Featuring 3D breathable technology and Inner Breathing Lining, it caters for a female desire for finesse with its eclectic mix of leather, suede and patent finishes, available in both total black version and in a colour-block version featuring cornflower blue, pillarbox red and metallic gold.

Fall/Winter features ankle boots customised with special embossed details which add dimension to the black leather. Waterproof, lightweight, easy to slip on and comfortable, these shoes have a modern and pared-back look. The rubber soles include the Amphibiox technology which keeps wet weather conditions at bay: the breathable and waterproof inner membrane protects both sole and upper, stopping water from getting inside the shoes whilst ensuring amazing breathability – meaning your feet stay warm, dry and breathe naturally.

Walking shoes couldn’t get better than this whether to tackle old- town cobblestones or moss-covered boulders. Nebula continues to amaze as it slips into new skins crossing boundaries and seasons on a carpet of clouds: the fabric and suede, both smooth and with quilt-stitching, feature a colour palette spanning from light dusty pink, teal and grey all designed to match the original colour contrast of the soles. Boasting Geox outstanding patents in one shoe, Nebula fuses the Inner Breathing System, Net Breathing System and an inner EVA sole with strategically placed soft rubber inlays to ensure added grip and stability. Easy to slip on and with elastic laces, its natural heat-balancing properties, lightness, flexibility and cushioning effect fuse effortlessly with the hi-tech design.

One hot comeback is the good old moccasin, revisited in a modern-chic version, available in a wide range including pearly patent leather, brushed leather or crocodile print models as well as a preppy style with metal horsebits. Geox’s iconic loafers for men and women are crafted in the softest black and burgundy leather, with an ultralight, flexible rubber sole, these loafers combine the practicality of breathability with an upbeat urban feel.

Last, the spotlight turns on a fashion-statement collection which includes boots, ankle boots, pumps, ballerina flats with tapered toes — all capturing the essence of the latest trends on the pret-a-porter catwalks. For the more sophisticated versions, the material mixture, such as smooth and laminated leather, creates eye-catching patterns of black & gold, lit up with small metallic buckle details. Fitted with inner memory foam soles, they are super soft, lightweight and flexible, specially designed for formal daytime looks or more glamorous evening engagements.
