    The possible Foxconn employee’s Weibo post, when translated, says “Our workshop is a 15 ordinary model with an extra Green, light Yellow, and Pink to make it look better and a c port  is added to the smart island.” The post seems to have lost something in translation, but we can assume that what the post says is that Foxconn is working on the iPhone 15 in additional Green, light Yellow, and Pink. Two new features are observed on the upcoming basic iPhone model, the USB-C port and the Dynamic Island.
    Foxconn is the contract manufacturer hired by Apple to assemble many of its devices including some iPhone models. Several leaks about upcoming Apple devices are supposedly leaked by employees working with such contract manufacturers as they might know intimate details of these devices seeing as their job is to assemble them all day.
    We’ve seen plenty of rumors about possible colors for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models during the last few months and nearly all of them mention a Pink color option for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

    Update to produce a more colorful Google Keep

    Google Keep is a free note-taking app found on iOS, Android, and the desktop. Currently, Keep’s interface is nothing that users would get excited about as it shows the drawn image of a light bulb. Whether Google received complaints about the coma-producing UI or it decided unilaterally to freshen up the look isn’t clear, but citing a source who discovered the change.

    Users will be able to select from different background colors by tapping on the icon of an artist’s palette found at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on the icon will also reveal the different background images that the Google Keep app and website will show. Options include a plain background in various colors, a checkered umbrella, a fork retreating from a bowl of spaghetti with pasta intertwined on its prongs, and some others.

    We have yet to see the new background surface which points to the updated UI being rolled out via a server-side update. If you’ve never opened the Keep app before, it allows you to take and save written notes and lists, keep photos, and audio. You can use the app to produce a shopping list, create a to-do list, and more. And these reminders can be set to go off at certain locations.

    Tata Harrier To Get Dual-Tone Colours

    The Tata Harrier is all set to get the option of dual-tone colors soon. Tata Motors has released a teaser of the compact SUV with the new black with orange and black with silver color schemes, and it is the roof as well as pillars that get the black treatment. The update comes about six months into the launch of the Harrier in India, and will also keep the model relevant amidst new competitors including the newly launched MG Hector, Jeep Compass Trailhawk and the upcoming Kia Seltos.

    Since its launch, the Tata Harrier was available only in mono-color tones, while the dual tone was made available at the dealer level with several showrooms providing the option of a roof wrap. The Harrier dual-tone version though will come from the factory and is likely to be offered on the range-topping XZ trim. Expect prices to see a marginal increase by about ₹ 30,000, up from the current asking price of ₹ 16.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the XZ trim. The Harrier is currently offered in five colors – Calisto Copper, Ariel Silver, Thermisto Gold, Telesto Grey and Orcus White.

    Dual-tone color options have been really popular amidst new and young car buyers, and Tata Motors has already been offered the same on its other vehicles including the Tiago, Nexon and the Hexa. Other manufacturers offer the dual-tone color option as well in the segment. It’s unclear if the Tata Harrier will get any other changes apart from the dual-tone paint scheme. Since its launch in January this year, the SUV has remained largely unchanged barring the addition of Apple CarPlay connectivity to its infotainment system. The SUV did receive its first price hike last month with it costing more by ₹ 31,000.

    With respect to power, the Tata Harrier uses a Fiat-sourced 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine that develops 138 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Tata is developing the BS6 version of the Harrier that is likely to go on sale by the end of this year. Tata will also introduce the Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque converter on the Harrier later, while a 1.6-litre turbo petrol version is also lined up. The seven-seater version – Tata Buzzard – will hit the showrooms in 2020, after making its India debut at the Auto Expo next year.

  • Android Q will support wide-color gamuts

    Android Q will support wide-color gamuts

    Google announced that Android will be gaining system-wide support for wide color gamut images starting with Android 10 Q. The next version of Android will allow you to capture, view, and easily share pictures with wide color gamuts. This will introduce more richness in terms of color reproduction compared to the standard sRGB color space.

    All things considered, Android’s adoption of wide color gamuts comes across as a rather logical move that reflects on the advancements we’ve witnessed in imaging technology, in terms of both camera and display improvements. As more and more devices these days come along with screens excellently-calibrated to the sRGB standard, but also support wider gamuts, supporting these more realistic color spaces right off the bat in stock Android signals an important milestone for Android as an operating system and its gradual shift towards quality-of-life enhancements.

    At Android, we have been working to make wide color photography happen end-to-end, e.g. more bits and bigger gamuts. This means, eventually users will be able to capture the richness of the scenes, share wide color pictures with friends and view wide color pictures on their phones.

    What color spaces are we talking about? Android Q will most certainly support Display P3 and Adobe RGB, with the door being left ajar for other wide-color gamuts as well.  Of course, developers will have to update their apps and make sure they support wide-color gamut content once Android Q launches this summer, and in order to ease up this change, the company has rounded up a few do’s and don’ts of adapting to wide color gamuts. Probably the most important requirement is that apps should never assume an sRGB color profile of any external image it gets and should check the ICC color profile embedded in the image file.

    Of course, not every app would end up adopting wide-color gamuts, and Google advises that developers at least be color-correct, meaning that they should take the necessary steps to decode wide-color images to sRGB.

    You can test if your device is Display P3 compatible by opening out this image – if you see a faint Android logo, your display supports the Display P3 color space; otherwise, if you see a solid red square, then either your device or your browser is not compatible. Some devices that should display the image correctly are Apple’s latest iPhones, which will do that straight in the browser, while others like Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series will only do that if you download the image and view it in the stock gallery.
