Atlanta-based operator and franchiser Hooters of America will enter Taiwan with five new locations.

The first is scheduled to open in Taipei, with typical menu including wings, burgers and salads. The other four will be in Kaohsiung, Taichung, Taoyuan and Tainan.

“With existing bustling locations throughout Asia, we’ve seen proven demand for Hooters’ world-famous chicken wings served with iconic Hooters Girl hospitality,” said Gary Murray, CEO, Destination Resorts.

Hooters expects good growth in Taiwan thanks to a robust economy and strong brand recognition in the market.

Earlier this year the franchisee opened two more Thailand locations, the largest international Hooters in Pattaya, and the nation’s fourth location in Bangkok’s Nana district.

It also recently opened the first Hooters in Hong Kong. (pictured)

Four more are planned this year – in Samui, Thailand; Manila Eastwood in Philippines; Marina Bay in Singapore and in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The new locations will incorporate the latest design features that deliver “the familiar, fun-loving persona of the Hooters brand along with contemporary elements that combine to deliver a one-of-a-kind guest experience”.

Hooters is the franchisor and operator of more than 420 Hooters restaurants in 42 states of the US and 26 countries.

    Hooters Thailand doubles presence

Hooters Thailand has doubled its network with two new locations: one more in Bangkok and the other in Pattaya – the group’s largest outlet.

Hooters Pattaya and Hooters Nana join Hooters Bangkok and Hooters Phuket as part of a 30-location Southeast Asia development agreement between the American chain and Bangkok-based international franchisee Destination Resorts.

In the heart of Pattaya, about an hour from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, Hooters Pattaya has a ‘Wild West theme’. Covering 3300 sqm, it has two bars, 50 high-definition televisions, live music, pool tables, a mechanical bull named Ricardo and two patios.

“Opening the largest international Hooters location in the heart of bustling Pattaya signifies our commitment to continued expansion in Asia,” says Hooters of America senior VP of global development Mark Whittle.

Meanwhile, the 630 sqm Nana outlet in the heart of the Sukhumvit district seats 271 customers. Along with, 21 high-definition flat screens, DJs and pool tables, it has a mechanical bull named Turbo.

Based in Atlanta, Hooters America owns and franchises more than 430 Hooters outlets in 28 countries. The privately held corporation owns 160 units. Its first establishment, in Clearwater, Florida, opened in 1983. Hooters’ website says the six founders were “quickly detained for impersonating restaurateurs, but fortunately for America they were soon allowed to go about their business”.

Hooters’ casual beach-themed establishments feature music, sports on large flat screens, and a menu that features chicken wings, seafood, sandwiches, burgers and salads.

“Destination Resorts has proven success with many restaurants in Thailand, and we’re continuing to bolster our presence with the largest international Hooters and a new location in Bangkok,” says CEO Gary Murray.

Destination Resorts properties include DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Phuket – Surin Beach, DusitD2 Phuket Resort, Sri Racha International Golf at Sri Racha Hills, Hard Rock Cafe Phuket at Patong Beach, Novotel Phuket Karon Beach Resort & Spa, Novotel Hua Hin Cha Am Beach Resort & Spa, Swissotel Resort Phuket and Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok Sukhumvit 15.

    Hooters Thailand expands into Samui

Just a week after opening its first outlet in Bangkok, Hooters Thailand has announced its entry into the resort town of Samui.

Hooters Thailand, operated by Southeast Asia master franchise Destination Resorts, now has four Hooters restaurants in Thailand either trading or under construction. The others are in Pattaya and Phuket.

The Samui location will be located at 168/2 Moo 2, Tambol Bophut, Amphur Kos Samui, Suratthani, in the heart of the bustling central Chaweng Beach area. It will open in early 2016.

The beachfront location will seat 220 guests and feature an approximately 2277 sqft, plus a spacious 1000 sqft outdoor patio.

Samui is part of a 30-location Southeast Asia development agreement between Hooters and Bangkok-based international franchisee, Destination Resorts, making Thailand the leader in Hooters Southeast Asia expansion efforts. Along with a recent location in Phuket and another scheduled to open in Bangkok, Samui will bolster Hooters presence in Thailand. Hooters will also open their largest international location in Pattaya, Thailand, in December.

Said Gary Murray, CEO, Destination Resorts: “The beach oasis atmosphere for which Hooters is well-known around the world will be a perfect match for Chaweng Beach, named by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top five best island beaches for partying earlier this year.”

With two additional locations set to open in Bangkok in the coming months, Murray plans to continue growth in Thailand and concentrate heavily in Hong Kong and the Philippines in the coming years.
