    Antwerp Underwater Solutions was founded in 2005. Shortly afterwards AUS became a part of a holding including several ship repair companies. The current structure and order books urged the need for a new manager to maintain and improve the level of service.

    He started his career as diver in a diving company where the main focus was on shipping. After 2 years he made a leap to the offshore industry. Here his drive and accuracy did not go unnoticed and pretty soon he was project superintendent for one of the major players in the offshore industry.

    In 2012 Hans and his wife had the courage to follow their dream and start a three year  journey around the world with their two kids.

    They returned in June 2016 and shortly afterwards  we welcomed Hans  with open arms in our team. We consider him to be a great asset not only for Antwerp Underwater Solutions but also for our customers.

    For the underwater repairs we can draw on a number of  certificated and very experienced underwater  welders.  Antwerp Underwater Solutions has different types and sizes of cofferdams. In addition we have all the skills and equipment  to provide a customized cofferdam within the available time frame.

    You might be surprised to learn the maintenance that can be performed underwater; installation of anodes, cleaning of sea chest, blanking of overboard valves in order to allow valves to be changed from the inside, re-tightening bolts to reduce bearings wear down,  cleaning of sea chests,   replacement of echo sounder or speed log, replacement of rope guards, clearing propellers or rope guards, rudder maintenance   A great return on investment can be achieved by our propeller maintenance program,  which enable us to keep ships propellers smooth at all time, all blades are  polished in a multi stage to grade ‘A’ on the Rupert scale.   • Raja Ampat launches tourism and conservation website

    Raja Ampat launches tourism and conservation website

    The government of Raja Ampat, West Papua, has launched a website on tourism and conservation to support tourism services in the region.

    The government is striving to boost innovation, Head of the Public Service Regional Office Technical Implementation Unit (BLUD UPTD) Water Conservation Area Raja Ampat Adrianus Kaiba noted in a press release received by Antara in Manokwari on Thursday.

    A technical institute, since its establishment in 2015 and under the coordination of the Department of Marine and Fisheries Raja Ampat, has been given the authority to manage water conservation in the area.

    He remarked that it was committed to improving services. Launching a website is rated as a step forward to improve the quality of services offered to both domestic and foreign tourists.

    “As a conservation area, we felt it was important to manage conservation in a professional and sustainable manner for the preservation of nature in this area,” he pointed out.

    He emphasized that the website was launched by Raja Ampat Regent Faris Abdul Umlati at Kampung Saonek, South Waigeo District, Wednesday (Aug. 17). It is part of a series of celebration activities to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the countrys independence.

    Kaiba said any information on water conservation in Raja Ampat can be updated on www.kkpr4.net, which is developed by BLUD UPTD.

    Meanwhile, Umlati highlighted that the website provides information on various conservation initiatives, scientific research, as well as water conservation activities being carried out in Raja Ampat in a sustainable manner.

    He believes the website will help domestic and foreign tourists obtain information regarding Raja Ampat, mainly related to water conservation.

    Moreover, Umlati remarked that the website is important to ensure that the areas biodiversity is always maintained and can be enjoyed by future generations.

    The Raja Ampat Islands are located at the northwestern tip of West Papua Province. They are located right in the heart of the coral triangle and are the worlds center of marine biodiversity.

    The results of ecological studies by The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International showed that Raja Ampat is home to 75 percent of the coral reefs in the world, with 553 species of coral and 1,437 species of reef fish.

    The waters in the area have abundant resources to provide sustenance and a means of livelihood for more than 40 thousand people spread across 135 villages in Raja Ampat.

    Local communities in Raja Ampat have cultural links and strong traditional ownership rights over the land and sea territory.

    Local authorities, through the BLUD UPTD Water Conservation Area, continue to ensure that water conservation is being carried out effectively, efficiently, and professionally.

    This step is being taken to ensure preservation of the natural resources and to improve the experience of tourists visiting the area to enjoy its natural beauty.

  • Indonesia to promote diving tourism to Japan tourists

    Indonesia to promote diving tourism to Japan tourists

    Indonesia will promote its world-class diving sites to Japanese tourists during a tourism promotion event entitled “Diving Sales Mission”, to be held in Japan on October 8 and 9, 2015.

    The promotion is to be held following a successful similar event, carried out in Beijing on Sept. 9, I Gde Pitana, the deputy for international marketing development of the tourism ministry, said here on Saturday.

    The government anticipates that revenues from diving tourism could be increased four times from the current amount, according to Pitana.

    The promotion event is part of the tourism ministrys tourism marketing strategies, which include branding, advertising and selling (BAS), that was launched by Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

    “The sale event is an effort of the tourism ministry to attract 529 thousand Japanese tourists,” he noted.

    In line with presidential regulation No. 69 Year 2015, the Indonesian government now offers visa free entry to Japanese citizens visiting Indonesia.

    “The tourism ministry has set a target of attracting some 10 million foreign tourists in 2015,” he remarked.

    Indonesia has a large potential for diving tourism, with excellent diving spots spreading from Weh Island in the countrys western most province of Aceh to Raja Ampat isles located in the countrys eastern most province of West Papua.

    Between these two tourist destinations, there are other exotic diving sites located in Banda Island (Maluku), Bunaken (North Sulawesi), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi), Lembeh Strait, Alor Isle, TogeBetwan, Gili Air, Komodo Island (East Nusa Tenggara), and Cendrawasih Bay.

    Among the worlds best diving spots to be found in Indonesia are those in Raja Ampat, Komodo Isle, Derawan, Togean, Wakatobi, Gilir Air and Bunaken.

    Deputy Assistant for Asia and the Pacific Market Development of the tourism ministry Vinsensius Jemadu said some 35 percent of the total earnings from the tourism industry comes from maritime tourism.

    Further, an estimated 35 percent of Japanese tourists visiting Indonesia were engaged in maritime-related activities, such as diving.

    At least seven representatives selling tourism packages will join the Diving Sale Mission to Japan.

    According to a Japanese travel agent, Travelco, Bali is one of the top ten tourism destinations for Japanese tourists.

    Indonesia is in the fifth most popular destination for the Japanese, after Seoul (South Korea), Guam, Taipei (Taiwan), and Honolulu (Hawaii).
