    Oakley China will start with Nanjing store

    Oakley China has its first dedicated store, in Xinjiekou’s Deji Plaza, Nanjing.

    The Nanjing store follows the opening in Shanghai of a one-of-a-kind store for the group, being half Oakley and half Ray-Ban. “This Nanjing store is the first Oakley-only store in China, and it not only glasses focused.”

    It also offers the brand’s speciality activewear for such outdoor sports as skiing, cycling and running, and is situated beside other sporting giants Evisu, Nike and Puma, and is across from Adidas.

    Owned by Luxottica, Oakley works not only with Ray-Ban in China but with LensCrafters, another US retailer of prescription eyewear.

    Attending the official opening were Oakley president of retail for greater China Alessandro Donadelli, and LensCrafters, Ray-Ban and Oakley GM for greater China Carl James.

    Japanese denim brand EVISU Buys Back the Retailing Rights in China for US$40 Million

    Japanese premium denim brand EVISU Group Limited announced the buy-back of the retailing and franchising rights for the China market.

    EVISU Group Limited, the parent company, has reinvested alongside Cassia Investments, a consumer-focused private equity fund, to buy back the interest from New Elegant Trading (Shanghai) Co. Ltd, the joint venture partner in China financially supported by IDG Capital. Acquisition consideration is US$40 Million. David Pun, Chairman and CEO of EVISU Group Limited, will remain the majority shareholder.

    David Pun expressed his excitement about this latest development, “The company made concerted efforts with its China joint venture partner over the past few years to establish brand awareness and secure a footing in China. We think this is an ideal time for the company to integrate its regional China business with headquarters to pursuit the brand’s global objectives in the coming years.”

    In the meantime, EVISU is seeking business expansion globally by forging distribution partnerships for the U.S. and Europe markets. The brand will step up product extensions like EVISUKURO, the latest athleisure collection, and maintain product exclusivity through focused management of wholesale distributors.

    Bauhaus sales slide

    Denim retailer Bauhaus International says its same-store sales in Hong Kong and Macau fell seven per cent in its second half year to September 30.

    The Hong Kong-listed street fashion retailer had 211 self-managed stores at the end of the first half year – 96 in Taiwan, 86 in Hong Kong and Macau and 29 in the mainland.

    Bauhaus International told the told the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that its same-store sales generally had slipped eight per cent overall.

    It has not released same store sales data.

    The company sells a range of imported denim and t-shirt brands including Desigual, Evisu, Superdry, True Religion and Red Pepper.

    Burberry, Prada and Gucci head a list of international fashion brands progressively opening at The Promenade shopping centre in the Galaxy Macau.

    The Promenade is part of the stage 2 development of the integrated resort, which opened its doors on May 27. But a number of retail spaces were not complete.

    But on Friday, high-flying British luxury apparel brand Burberry opened its new store there – its third in Macau. And Gucci will follow later this month.

    Prada will open a store at The Promenade in October.

    UK fashion brand Daks and Japanese denim labels Evisu and Moussy will also open stores soon, according to the Galaxy Entertainment Group.

    Louis Vuitton opened a store last month.

    “We are excited to be welcoming top luxury brands to Galaxy Macau for the first time, connecting our increasingly discerning guests with the most iconic retail brands from around the globe,” said Kevin Clayton, chief marketing officer of Galaxy Macau.

    Denim retailer Bauhaus says its same store sales have slumped in Taiwan and Hong Kong in the last quarter.

    Same store sales fell 17 per cent in Taiwan and nine per cent in Hong Kong, but remained stable in Mainland China.

    The Hong Kong-listed street fashion retailer has 211 self-managed stores – 96 in Taiwan, 86 in Hong Kong and Macau and 29 in the mainland.

    Quarter on quarter it added three in Hong Kong-Macau, one in Taiwan and closed two in the mainland.

    Bauhaus did not offer any commentary on the figures.

    The retailer sells a range of imported denim and t-shirt brands including Desigual, Evisu, Superdry, True Religion and Red Pepper.
