    Fuji Xerox changes name to FUJIFILM Business Innovation

    Brand change reflects corporate strategic direction and ongoing commitment to innovation. FUJIFILM Business Innovation Vietnam Company Limited (formerly known as ‘Fuji Xerox Vietnam’) today announced it had changed its name as part of a region-wide rebranding initiative, following the name change of its parent company, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., to FUJIFILM Business Innovation Corp.

    The move follows Fuji Xerox’s decision to end its technology agreement with Xerox corporation on the agreement’s expiration date of March 31, which provided for brand licenses, technology and sales territories. The name change takes place with immediate effect.

    As FUJIFILM Business Innovation Vietnam Co., Ltd, the company will continue to offer its core printing and document technologies and services, in addition to an expanding portfolio of enterprise software solutions and managed print room services.

    While the company will continue to sell existing products under the Fuji Xerox brand, it will also commence sales and marketing activities of new products under the Fujifilm brand.

    Over the years, Fujifilm’s considerable research and intellectual property has yielded an array of new applications for its technologies, such as using microporous photographic film technology to create yeast filters used in brewing beer, or creating lightweight sensors from the company’s Fujinon lens technology designed especially for outer space and carried aboard satellites.FUJIFILM Business Innovation is one of more than 300 subsidiaries in the FUJIFILM Holdings portfolio, including leaders in diverse fields such as healthcare, biotechnology, imaging, and photography.

    FUJIFILM Business Innovation offers innovation to businesses globally to help maximize their organizational strengths. The company has pioneered numerous technologies and accumulated expertise since being established as Fuji Xerox in Tokyo in 1962.

  • Telecom Fiji to deploy 10G PON

    Telecom Fiji to deploy 10G PON

    Telecom Fiji has announced it will deploy the first all-optical 10G PON fiber network in the South Pacific, in partnership with Huawei.

    The operator plans to use the network to deliver gigabit network services for both households and enterprise customers.

    Huawei has been contracted for the deployment, which is aimed at enhancing the operator’s customer experience while significantly reducing networks operations and maintenance costs.

    “By adopting this 10G PON solution, the competitiveness of our fixed broadband in Fiji has now significantly enhanced… We are fully confident to maintain our technological leadership in the South Pacific island markets,” Telecom Fiji general manager of sales and marketing Joseph Naua said.

    “We are also proud to work in partnership with Huawei on the deployment of the 10G PON network. At present, the 10G PON network deployment is moving on a fast track, and Huawei will continue to invest and innovate in the ultra-broadband domain.

    DoCoMo to provide 375Mbps LTE-A at Mt Fuji summit

    Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has announced plans to deploy LTE-Advanced at the summit of Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest and most famous mountain.

    The company will provide mobile services with maximum downlink speeds of 375Mbps as well as 3G service during the climbing season from July 10.

    The company will also offer a maximum downlink of 337.5Mbps on the four most heavily used routes on the 3,776 meter summit, the Subashiri, Gotemba, Fujinomiya and Yoshida trails.

    DoCoMo will also deploy Wi-Fi hotspots at some cabins on the slopes, and make shared tablets available in some cabins that support video streaming, translation app Hanashite Hon’yaku and other value-added mobile services.

    “Going forward, DoCoMo will continue to ensure that Mount Fuji climbers enjoy high-quality mobile services as part of its initiative to enhance the quality of mobile communications in expanded coverage areas around Japan,” the operator said in a statement.

    Mount Fuji is the 35th most prominent – or highest – mountain in the world and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

    Fuji keen to intensify cooperation with Indonesia

    Fijian Minister for Agriculture, Rural, and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management Ina Seruiratu has expressed his countrys keenness to expand cooperation with Indonesia in various fields.

    “We have expanded our cooperation with Indonesia in areas such as agriculture, which is paramount for the two countries as well as in the field of residential development,” Seruiratu noted in a press statement of the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan released on Thursday.

    He made the remarks after receiving assistance worth US$5 million from the Indonesian government through Minister Pandjaitan to help alleviate the financial burden of the victims of Cyclone Winston, which left 19 people dead and affected part of the country.

    He expressed hope that the Indonesian assistance would strengthen relations between the two nations.

    Pandjaitan also said his country was looking forward to taking a cue from Indonesia in mitigating natural disasters as it was also a disaster-prone nation.

    “Besides learning from Indonesias experiences, we also want to gain a deeper understanding of disaster mitigation technology from the country,” he revealed.

    During his visit to Fiji, Minister Luhut also met Prime Minister Josaia Bainimarama to extend his condolences over the disaster that affected the South Pacific country.

    Luhut praised the Fijian premier for his swift action in addressing the disaster.

    “I believe that under the leadership of Prime Minister Bainimarama, Fiji would soon recover and rebuild itself,” he added.
