    Kingsdown Celebrates 100th Branded Store in China

    Bedding manufacturer Kingsdown recently with the opening of its 100th store in Shijiazhuang, China. The store is part of Kingsdown’s ongoing licensing partnership with Asian-based bedding producer and retailer Roth Bedding Technology International Limited.

    The new 2,260-square-foot store, located in the capital and largest city of North China’s Hebei Province, puts Kingsdown on track to have a minimum of 135 stores open in China by the end of this year and solidifies the company’s strategy to have 500 branded stores open throughout China by 2020. Currently, Kingsdown branded stores are in 58 cities.

    Roth and Kingsdown joined forces in 2015. Since then, the partnership has increased the number of Kingsdown branded stores throughout China, capitalizing on the country’s appetite for the American brand’s luxurious style and handcraftsmanship.

    “Our business in China remains strong and continues to flourish, and we couldn’t be happier to hit this important milestone,” said Frank Hood, president and CEO of Kingsdown. “Our ongoing strategic partnership with Roth has been instrumental in the growth and success of the Kingsdown brand in China.     In addition to its continued growth in China, Kingsdown recently opened a second store in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, which is part of the company’s ambitious growth strategy throughout Asia. The company’s expansion in Asia coincides with Kingsdown’s continued growth in the U.S.

    Kingsdown Adds Three Branded Mattress Stores in China

    Mattress supplier Kingsdown, Inc. has opened three additional stores in China, boosting its footprint in the country to 39 stores in 31 cities.

    The latest openings include two additional stores in Beijing, taking the city’s total to three, and its first location in Shanghai.

    The company said it expects to have 75 stores in 65 cities by the end of the year through its licensing agreement with Chinese bedding producer and retailer Roth Bedding Technology International Ltd.

    The two companies joined forces last year, and since then, the partnership has continued to flourish. The latest move solidifies the companies’ growth strategy to have 500 branded stores open throughout China by 2020, Kingsdown officials said.

    Building on its partnership with Roth, Kingsdown is growing its branded store network to strengthen its presence in China, taking advantage of the demand for an American brand with a history of luxurious style and hand craftsmanship. The Kingsdown branded stores sell the company’s popular collections along with products designed and developed specifically for the Chinese marketplace, a growing market for mattresses with an annual growth rate of more than 25% in the last five years.

    Kingsdown Debuts First Bedmatch System In South Korea

    Kingsdown, an employee-owned mattress manufacturer, announced recently that it has debuted its first bedMATCH system in Songdo, South Korea. Kingsdown is one of the largest U.S. manufacturers selling product in Asia, and plans to use this program as a launching starting point for further distribution of bedMATCH systems, Kingsdown and Sleep to Live bedding products throughout the region.

    Partnering with Kingsdown licensee, Navijam, Inc, the South Korea store is the first in the country to feature the patented bedMATCH diagnostic system to enhance the way consumers shop for mattresses. The majority of the Sleep to Live mattresses on the store’s showroom floor are made in South Korea with additional products being imported from the United States.

    bedMATCH uses 18 statistical measurements along with thousands of calculations to assist the customer in determining the best mattress option for their specific body type. In addition to this South Korean location, Kingsdown is also set to open 60 additional bedMATCH/My Side locations throughout Asia in 2016.

    Top 15 U.S. bedding producer Kingsdown announced the debut of its bedMatch system here. Kingsdown plans to use the retail launch as a starting point for further distribution of bedMatch systems, Kingsdown, and Sleep to Live bedding products throughout the region.

    Kingsdown licensee Navijam partnered with Rentus, a retailer in Songdo, to launch the first bedMatch system in the country. The majority of the Sleep to Live mattresses on the store’s showroom floor are made in South Korea, with some products being imported from the United States.

    Kingsdown Vietnam opens first store

    American bedding producer Kingsdown has opened its first branded retail showroom in Vietnam, in Ho Chi Minh City, heralding a push into Asia.

    The company has also announced it plans to open more than 100 branded showrooms in Asia within the next 12 months.

    Based in Mebane, North Carolina, Kingsdown claims to be the largest independent, employee-owned mattress manufacturer in the US. The Kingsdown Vietnam showroom carries bedding and furniture products made by long-time licensee Far East Foam.

    “We have enjoyed a fantastic reception in Asia over the past few years with its growing middle and upper classes,” says Kingsdown president/CEO Frank Hood.

    “As wealth spreads throughout the region, it made sense to expand our presence with our good partner Far East Foam. American products are held in high regard in this region.”

    Kingsdown entered the Chinese market with its My Side and BedMatch brands in 2012, and following “significant” growth is set to open 46 more branded retail stores across the mainland. These Kingsdown stores will sell its popular collections, as well as products specifically designed and developed for the Chinese marketplace, the company says.

    Mattress maker Kingsdown has entered into a partnership which will see it open 500 new stores in China over the next five years.

    Kingsdown already operates more than 90 MySide / Sleep to Live retail outlets in China, through a licensee and franchise network.

    But its new partnership with Roth Bedding Technology will substantially expand its brand awareness and retail points of sale. Roth will manufacture the bedding and furniture products in China and they’ll be sold under the Kingsdown brand.

    About 65 stores will open initially this year, with two already trading. The roll-out will be ramped up from next year.

    “We have enjoyed a fantastic reception in China over the past few years but saw an even greater opportunity to really capture the country’s luxury consumer,” said Kingsdown president and CEO Frank Hood.

    “This partnership with Roth Bedding is the boldest relationship ever entered into by our company and we are thrilled to have found an organisation that enjoys an equally ideal reputation for their attention to detail, high quality and service.”

    Roth Bedding GM Jie Du says his company believes there is a big opportunity to sell high end bedding into the Chinese market.

    “The company’s focus on styling, quality and groundbreaking research to deliver a more luxurious night’s sleep is a differentiator that will be appreciated by our consumers.”

    North Carolina, US, based Kingsdown was founded in 1904 and besides his US home market, where it has two manufacturing bases, it sells into Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan, Turkey and the UAE.

    “We are not the biggest mattress company in the world, nor do we have the loudest voice,” the company declares on its website. “While other companies are preoccupied with getting bigger and louder, we are hard at work holding true to our guiding principle: We make the smartest mattresses in the world.”
