    Globe Expands Network with New Cell Sites in Central Luzon

    Globe Telecom has constructed six new towers in Bulacan, including two in Marilao and one each in Angat, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Hagonoy, and San Jose Del Monte, while expanding a total of 22 additional sites across the province.

    In Nueva Ecija, the company has built six new towers, located in Aliaga, Gapan City, General Tinio, San Isidro, Santa Rosa, and Talavera, and expanded 11 existing sites to provide enhanced digital services to both urban and rural areas.

    Globe Telecom has added five new cell towers in Apalit, Floridablanca, Mexico, San Luis, and Sasmuan in Pampanga to improve network coverage.

    In Tarlac, three new sites were added in Bamban, Concepcion, and Tarlac City, with additional site upgrades further improving the province’s overall network coverage. Approximately 15 existing sites were upgraded to boost network capacity and coverage.

    Joel Agustin, Globe’s SVP of Service Planning and Engineering, emphasized that the company’s network expansion across Central Luzon highlights its dedication to delivering world-class connectivity to all Filipinos.

    Agustin noted that the addition of the new towers and expansion sites aims to improve connectivity and empower communities to prosper in the digital age.

    Globe’s ongoing network expansion aligns with its mission to close the digital divide in the Philippines. The company aims to offer all Filipinos access to digital benefits, promoting inclusive growth nationwide through continuous infrastructure upgrades and network expansion.

    Walter Mart expands network in Luzon, Philippines

    Luzon supermarket operator Walter Mart has added six new stores to its network this year and the company has also ventured online.

    The Philippine firm says online retailing is its way of expanding its customer base beyond its physical stores across Metro Manila.

    Rosemarie D Caalam, Walter Mart Supermarket GM, said that the expansion would further boost Walter Mart’s presence in Luzon. The company has no plan yet to expand in another area however she stressed it will continue to provide the community’s needs.

    Caalam was commenting during the opening of ‘I Love Philippines’, a program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and part of the government’s Go Local project.

    Walter Mart Supermarket has now 41 stores in Metro Manila, Central, and South Luzon. The chain operates its anchor stores such as the Walter Mart Supermarket, Walter Mart Cinemas, Abenson Appliances, Homeplus Furniture, Electroworld, and SB Furnitures.

    Cebu Pacific expands flights from Clark

    Cebu Pacific, the country’s biggest budget airline, widened its presence at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga province with the opening on Friday of three new routes, including flights to Tokyo, Japan.

    The move opens up tourism and business opportunities for the central Luzon gateway while helping Cebu Pacific ramp up operations as it pursues an aggressive expansion strategy.

    Cebu Pacific on Friday also inaugurated daily flights between Clark Airport and Bacolod and Iloilo.

    Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Pacific CEO, outlined the company’s long history in Clark Airport, which it first tapped as a hub for daily flights to Cebu 13 years ago.

    “Since 2006 we have never stopped flying to Clark. We have always believed in the potential of Clark as a gateway to Manila, to central and northern Luzon, a hub with over 25 million residents,” Gokongwei said during the launch event.

    Cebu Pacific will also be the first airline to link Clark Airport to Narita International Airport in Japan with flights to operate four times a week.

    Clark Airport is also being positioned as an alternative to the congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.

    The Gokongweis are doubling down on their investment in Clark as the family’s JG Summit Holdings, a property, food, retail and airline conglomerate, is part of the consortium that will operate the Pampanga gateway.

    Cebu Pacific earlier announced the start of daily flights between Clark and Puerto Princesa in Palawan by the fourth quarter of 2019.

    The four new routes will boost Cebu Pacific’s total capacity in Clark by 40 percent in 2019 alone. This follows a 75-percent increase in 2018 with the launch of direct commercial air service to and from Davao and Panglao (Bohol) as well as additional frequency for the Clark-Macau route.

  • SM Prime adds to Luzon portfolio

    SM Prime adds to Luzon portfolio

    Philippine integrated property company SM Prime Holdings has opened a mall in Batangas to continue its expansion in southern Luzon.

    SM Center Lemery adds 25,000sqm to SM Prime’s total gross floor area in the Philippines, and follows SM City Batangas and SM City Lipa.

    It opened with nearly 90 per cent of space leased. There are three floors of mixed retail and food tenants including brands such as Ace Hardware, BDO, Miniso, Simply Shoes, SM Appliance Center, SM Hypermarket, Surplus and Watson’s. There are also a Cyberzone and a Wellness Zone.
