    Netstars Vietnam partners with M-service to promote non-cash payment for TeteShop users

    Netstars Vietnam will cooperate with Mobile Online Services JSC (M service) to provide grocery stores with payment solutions both online and offline.

    The collaboration agreement signed by Netstars Vietnam Co., Lt (Netstars Vietnam), a member of the multinational fintech startup Netstars, and M service, a leading fintech company that operates the Momo super app in Vietnam, aims to promote non-cash payment services and digital merchant tools for grocery stores in Vietnam.

    Amid the Covid pandemic, most traditional business activities are being affected. The partnership intends to enable grocery stores to easily receive payments both online and offline via the Tete Shop service, a smartphone-based shop management application for grocery stores with more than 10,000 registered shops. This will help merchants reduce physical contact and reduce the risk of Covid infection.

    Currently, Momo has more than 25 million users in Vietnam.

    While Netstars has a great market share in multi QR payment solutions in the Japan market, its local arm has integrated with most leading banks and e-wallets in Vietnam, accepting payments from more than 80 percent of mobile banking and e-wallet applications on the market.

    Along with payment solutions, Netstars Vietnam also provides a smartphone-based shop management app Tete Shop for grocery stores with more than 10,000 registered outlets.

    Netstars Vietnam has demonstrated its commitment to bring professional solutions to grocery stores and its passion to contribute to the development of Vietnam. Both parties plan to jointly promote and expand the Tete Shop and Momo Super app to remote, rural, and isolated areas with the goal of providing digital transformation to 1.4 million grocery stores in Vietnam.

    Singtel extends VIA mobile wallet alliance

    Singtel has announced a further expansion of its emerging cross-border mobile payment alliance via an arrangement with Singapore Changi Airport.

    Subscribers to Thailand’s AIS will soon be able to use their AIS GLOBAL Pay mobile wallets to make payments across all four Changi Airport terminals in their home currency.

    AIS, one of Singtel’s regional mobile affiliates, is the first international member of the VIA Alliance, which launched in October. Other member mobile wallets to be added later this year include K Plus from Thailand’s Kasikorbank and Axiata Digital’s Boost Malaysia.

    Singtel also recently arranged to allow users of mobile wallets within the VIA Alliance to make payments in Japan through a partnership with Tokyo-based NETSTARS.

    Singtel plans to progressively expand the VIA alliance to include its other regional associates Airtel in India, Globe in the Philippines, Telkomsel in Indonesia, as well as more non-operator entities.

    “With Singapore welcoming over half a million visitors from Thailand every year, we are excited to enhance the retail experience for them with the ease, familiarity and convenience of seamless transactions,” Singtel International VP of business Soon Sze Meng said.

    “Having the many merchants in Changi Airport on board VIA will enable Thai travelers to enjoy a wide range of cashless dining and retail options from the moment they touch down, while these merchants will capture new customers and revenue.”

    Japan’s NETSTARS joins Singtel’s VIA alliance

    Singtel‘s cross-border mobile payments alliance VIA has expanded into Japan through a partnership with Tokyo-bassed mobile payment technology NETSTARS.

    The addition of NETSTARS to the alliance will add 100,000 stores to the network’s current 1.6 million merchant partners in Asia.

    With the agreement, users of mobile wallets supported by VIA, including Singtel’s Dash and AIS Global Pay, will be able to use their respective wallets at merchants including airports, shopping malls, transportation modes and food and beverage outlets.

    Users will be able to pay instantly in their local currency with competitive foreign exchange rates in Japan.

    NETSTARS aims to grow its merchant base to 1 million stores throughout Japan by the end of next year

    As well as Dash and AIS Global Pay, Thailand’s Kasikornbank and Malaysia’s Boost will soon be adding their mobile wallets to the VIA alliance.

    Singtel Group plans to expand the VIA alliance to include other mobile regional associates including Airtel in India, Globe in the Philippines and Telkomsel in Indonesia, as well as more non-telco partners.
