    CIMB Niaga posts 16.9% net profit growth in 2018

    CIMB Group Holdings Bhd’s 92.5%-owned T Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk reported an audited consolidated net profit of 3.5 trillion rupiah (RM1 billion) for the financial year ended Dec 1, 2018 a 16.9% growth compared with a year ago. The bank said the improved net profit came on the back of a 13.8% increase in on-interest income to 3.8 trillion rupiah and a 63 basis-point improvement in credit charges from 2.26% to 1.63% as provisions declined 25.7%.

    CIMB Niaga’s loan loss coverage remains comfortable at 105.86%.

    “We aim to maintain a targeted growth trajectory while keeping asset quality as a priority,” said CIMB Niaga president director Tigor M. Siahan.

    Total loans grew by 1.8% to 188.5 trillion rupiah mainly from growth in mortgages of 11.2% to 30 trillion rupiah, small- and medium enterprise loans of 8.5% to 29.6 trillion rupiah and credit card of 5.5% to 8.6 trillion rupiah.

    With total assets of 266.8 trillion rupiah as at Dec 31, 2018, CIMB Niaga maintained its position as Indonesia’s second largest private owned bank by assets.

    Its capital adequacy ratio stood at 19.66% as at end-December 2018, representing a 106 basis-point increase from the previous year.

    “Going forward, we will continue to focus on expanding our consumer and SME businesses, building our CASA (current account savings account) franchise and strengthening our Sharia business proposition and Sharia-compliant product offerings,” Tigor added.

    CIMB Niaga Indonesia first-half earnings 28% higher year on year

    PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk (CIMB Niaga) posted a net profit of 1.8 trillion rupiah (RM504.3 million) in the first half of 2018 (1H18), representing a 28.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth, which translates into an earnings per share of 70.54 rupiah.

    The improved net profit came on the back of a 32.6% increase in non-interest income to 1.9 trillion rupiah and a 27.1% y-o-y decline in provision expenses, it told the stock exchange yesterday.

    Its loan loss coverage (LLC) remained comfortable at 106.83%, it added.

    CIMB Niaga president Tigor M. Siahaan said its 1H18 operating income managed to grow by 1.5% y-o-y thanks to the y-o-y improvement in non-interest income.

    Tigor added its operating costs continued to be well managed, rising only 3.4% y-o-y, while the gradual improvement in the economic environment positively impacted its provisions which declined 27.1% y-o-y.

    “We will continue the cautious growth trajectory with asset quality as a priority. With total assets of 260.1 trillion rupiah as at June 30, 2018, representing a 7.6% y-o-y growth, CIMB Niaga maintained its position as Indonesia’s second largest national private-listed bank by assets.”

    As at June 30, CIMB Niaga’s total gross loans increased 3% y-o-y to 185.7 trillion rupiah.

    “Our strategy to focus on the mortgage and small medium enterprise (SME) segments is gaining traction, with each segment growing by 8.9% and 6.2% y-o-y respectively, while our corporate loans grew by 8.8% y-o-y,” Tigor added.

    Its total third party deposits stood at 190.3 trillion rupiah as at June 30 2018, underpinned by a 12.8% y-o-y growth in CASA (current account, savings account).

    “Going forward, we will continue to optimise CASA with our consumer and SME digitalisation, and strengthen our Sharia business proposition and Sharia-compliant product offerings,” Tigor said.

    CIMB Niaga Syariah reports 165.5 percent rise in profit

    CIMB Niaga Syariah, the sharia unit of PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk recorded a 165.5 percent increase in its net profit to Rp305.43 billion in 2016 from Rp115.03 billion in the previous year.

    Director of the sharia unit of CIMB Pandji P. Djajanegara attributed the surge in profit to 40.2 percent rise in sharia financing to Rp10.21 trillion in 2016 from Rp7.28 trillion in 2015.

    “An increase was recorded in all business segments,” Pandji said here on Monday.

    He said the non performing financing (NPF) of the sharia unit of the bank dropped to 1.15 percent from 1.86 percent despite the surge in financing.

    “The performance of the sharia unit was in line with the management adoption of prudential banking principle while expanding its financing portfolio,” he said.

    In 2017, apart from expanding consumer financing, CIMB Niaga Syariah wanted to increase financing of business segment including corporation, micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) and commercial financing, he said.

    He said the sharia business is expected to account for 10 percent of the credits to be provided by PT. CIMB Niaga Tbk.

    The third party fund held by CIMB Niaga Syariah rose 40.2 percent to Rp10.63 trillion in 2016 from Rp7.58 trillion in 2015.

    Pandji attributed the increase in the third party fund partly to the status of the unit as a recipient of hajj pilgrimage payments including regular hajj and special hajj pilgrimage.

    CIMB Niaga Syariah has a product of hajj saving that includes hajj plan saving, and hajj pahala (merit) saving and iB Mapan Wakaf saving.

    With the financing and the third party funds , the assets of CIMB Niaga Syariah rose 40.34 percent to Rp12.78 trillion in 2016 from Rp9.11 trillion in 2015.

    The sharia unit contributed 5.45 percent to the total assets of Bank CIMB Niaga in 2016 , up from 3.90 percent in 2015.

    PT CIMB Niaga is the countrys fifth largest bank in assets controlled by the CIMB Group of Malaysia.
