  • Cebu Pacific’s New In-Flight Meals Will Make You Look Forward To Eating During Your Flight

Cebu Pacific’s New In-Flight Meals Will Make You Look Forward To Eating During Your Flight

Traveling is a double-edged sword. You’re both excited and stressed, even before you get to the airport. One of the things I’ve been taught to do is to eat a full meal before I even leave the house because airport food is too expensive and airplane food is bad. Barely edible, they say!

Cebu Pacific is here to silence the haters! They recently introduced a new inflight menu that’s all about your favorite Pinoy comfort foods. Described as “homey,” their selection includes Beef Salpicao, Lechon Paksiw, and even Pinoy Spaghetti!

I know I’m always craving Singaporean food so I was elated to also see Hainanese Chicken Rice on the menu.

If, however, you don’t feel like having anything heavy, opt for their new sandwiches instead: the Roasted Chicken Sandwich and the Crab Salad Sandwich.

Vegetarians need not worry: Cebu Pacific didn’t forget about you! Enjoy their Veggie Pesto Sandwich, which consists of tomato, lettuce and mozzarella, and ciabatta bread.

All of these and more are available for pre-order once you’ve booked a flight with Cebu Pacific. Director for Inflight Catering and Sales JB Bueno shared in a press release, “Our meals being on pre-order also helps us guarantee less food wastage, and is in line with efforts towards more sustainable practices and operations.”

  • 60% of APAC travelers would pay for in-flight Wi-Fi

60% of APAC travelers would pay for in-flight Wi-Fi

Over 60% of APAC respondents would be prepared to pay up to $5 to access the internet on planes, according to YouGov’s latest survey on air travel.

Although only 10% of APAC respondents say lack of connectivity is one of the three worst aspects of flying, many airlines are introducing internet access on flights so passengers can stay connected throughout the air journey.

Almost one in five APAC respondents have tried in-flight internet access in the past and would like to do again in the future. And almost half of the APAC respondents haven’t tried in-flight internet access before but would consider doing so in the future.

This should be a good news to airlines as this advancement on planes seem to be very well receiving in APAC. However, budget is also a concern as the majority of APAC respondents (64%) would only prepare to pay up to US$5 to access in-flight internet services, while less than 30% are prepared to pay up to $10.

To further improve connectivity on flight, some airlines are also proposing new service like making VoIP calls on flight. Over 40% of APAC respondents express interest in making in-flight VoIP calls in the future.

However, 65% of APAC respondents also think it is irritating to sit next to someone making a VoIP call on a flight. Because of this, almost 80% of APAC respondents think airlines should give passengers the option of sitting in different sections on planes where calls are and aren’t allowed.

  • Xiamen Airlines takes on board EzyCustoms

Xiamen Airlines takes on board EzyCustoms

Global Logistics System (HK) Co., Ltd (“GLS”) welcomes Xiamen Airlines to the EzyCustoms service after the successful implementation of this single platform with multi-Customs integration.

Xiamen Airlines is extending its network to Canada from July 2016.  The airline is looking for a reliable partner that provides a solution to enable its full compliance with the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) Advance Commercial Information (ACI) requirements.

The ACI programme requires air carriers to electronically transmit air conveyance and cargo information (including supplementary cargo reports where applicable) to the CBSA prior to the arrival in Canada. This requirement allows the CBSA to effectively identify threats to Canada’s health, safety, and security prior to the arrival of cargo and conveyance in Canada.

EzyCustoms is a one stop web-based multi-Customs clearance platform that fully compliant with the diverse ACI requirements.  It complies with different Customs authorities including: the European Union (EU) Customs, the US AAMS and the ACE (scheduled to start by the end of 2016), the Canada CBSA, as well as the other customs authorities in India, Bangladesh and the Philippines.  At present, a number of China carriers are clients to EzyCustoms service.

Tony Sham, CEO of Global Logistics System (HK) Co., Ltd said: “GLS is pleased to welcome Xiamen Airlines joining the EzyCustoms community. As an experienced and expert service provider in the industry, we are grateful to be appointed by Xiamen Airlines to fulfil the application, registration and the certification with CBSA.  We look forward to seeing EzyCustoms performs proficiently in the airline’s operations, and to extending our other EzySuite service to Xiamen Airlines in the near future.”

Yang Gaorong, General Manager of Cargo at Xiamen Airlines said: “Thanks to the GLS support to the implementation of EzyCustoms in Xiamen Airlines.  As EzyCustoms not only fully complies with the ACI requirements in Canada, but also with customs authorities in the other regions around the world, we are better placed with quality assurance while the airline continues to grow.  In addition, we choose to co-operate with GLS as we share the same language and time zone, we can obtain support swiftly.”
