    Zayn Malik returns to Penshoppe

Philippine fashion brand Penshoppe has announced Zayn Malik as its newest endorser.

The British R&B singer made his debut with the Spring Summer 2018 Collection.

The brand has released photos show the singer wearing bold, bright prints and comfy-looking fabrics, fit tee with vertical stripes, and men’s resort shirt with floral print.

“As Zayn continues to dominate the global music charts, we also see him as someone who has also joined the world of fashion with his signature style. Through the years, Zayn has developed his own fashion-based following and continues to stand out in strength and style – just like Penshoppe,” says Jeff Bascon, Penshoppe’s brand director.

Zayn Malik used to be an endorser of Penshoppe’s with his former bandmates in One Direction in 2012.

After splitting from One Direction in 2015, Zayn released his debut solo album in March 2016.

Local brand Rusty Lopez opens 9th outlet in Jakarta

Filipino fashion retail brand Rusty Lopez opened its newest store in Jakarta on Thursday, featuring comfortable sandals and casuals made from Marikina, the Philippines’ shoe capital, according to a recent report of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Philippine Trade and Investment Center–Jakarta.

The outlet in Sogo Lippo Mall Puri located in the St. Moritz Central Business District is the brand’s ninth outlet following the opening of stores in Seibu Grand Indonesia, Sogo Emporium Pluit, Sogo Central Park, Sogo Alam Sutera, Lotte Shopping Avenue, Metro Plaza Senayan, Metro Gandaria City and Metro Taman Anggrek.

Philippine commercial attaché to Indonesia Alma Argayoso said sales of the newest collection during the opening were brisk. The other stores also received positive feedback.

“It is exciting to bring to the Indonesian market the Philippines’ world-famous Marikina-made shoes. This affirms our belief on the potential of fashion retail products in Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s biggest economy,” Argayoso said.

The first overseas store of Rusty Lopez opened in Jakarta on March 6, 2016 at the Seibu Department Store of Grand Indonesia Mall and featured selected designs suited to the Indonesian market.

The Trade Department noted that increased interest in Philippine-made shoes abroad was helping revive the local shoe industry and opening more opportunities for small enterprises.

PTIC in Jakarta is supporting and assisting Filipino homegrown brands in globalizing their products and accessing the regional markets by looking for potential partnerships.

Aside from Rusty Lopez, other Filipino fashion retail brands in Indonesia are Karimadon, Penshoppe, Gingersnaps and Ann Ong Jewelry.

Indonesia has welcomed Rusty Lopez into the market – and wants more Philippine fashion brands to follow.

The shoe brand from Marikina City has opened its first overseas outlet in Jakarta’s Seibu Department Store in Grand Indonesia Mall.

Other Philippine fashion brands that have established their names in Indonesia include Gingersnaps, Periwinkle, Penshoppe, and Karimadon.

“The AEC [Association of Southeast Asian Nations Economic Community] is an exciting opportunity for Philippine companies to introduce established brands in Asean and beyond. We are optimistic that our local fashion brands can compete in the region because we are strong in design and we aim for the best quality,” said Philippine commercial representative to Indonesia Alma Argayoso.

Rusty Lopez, known for high-quality footwear, took its classic and contemporary designs to the Indonesian market with a wide range of products from sandals to pumps.

“We have carefully selected the best styles suited to the Indonesian market because we understand that fashionistas in Indonesia want more shoe styles that are fun, colorful, chic and fashionable,” said  PT Cruzzini Sejahtera president and director Sanny Cruz, who also serves as Rusty Lopez managing partner in Indonesia.

Cruz said the company plans to open more stores this year.

The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Jakarta said it supports Philippine brands through trade shows and business development activities.

Penshoppe parent plans 125 new stores

Philippines fashion retailer Golden ABC says it plans to open 125 new stores in the Philippines and across Asia in 2016.

According to CEO Bernie Liu, 100 stores will open in the company’s home market and a further 25 will open in other Asian countries, including Indonesia.

Liu is undeterred by the rapidly rising ranks of foreign fast fashion clothing brands entering and expanding in the Philippines.

“We have been competing with these international brands for years now in other parts of Asia. Our goal is to bring a Filipino brand into the international arena,” Liu said during the opening of three new stores at the SM Seaside City mall in Cebu.

Golden ABC’s flagship brand – and the one most likely to be opened in Asian markets – is Penshoppe. The new Penshoppe store at SM Seaside City is the brand’s largest shop yet, with a footprint of 850 sqm, more than twice the size of a normal store.

Golden ABC also operates the ForMe and Oxygen brands, both of which have also opened stores in SM Seaside City. The retailer has 700 stores across Asia and the Middle East. Its largest Asian markets outside the Philippines are Indonesia and Cambodia – and in Vietnam where the company recently opened a store inside the new VivoCity mall in District 7.

“We are very encouraged by the response in Vietnam,” Liu said in an interview.

Penshoppe has 26 stores in Indonesia, with three more under construction.

Golden ABC also owns the Memo, Regatta and Tyler retail brands, and the direct-selling business Red Logo.
