    Perry Ellis International founder launches buy-back

    The founder of Perry Ellis International is leading a US$437 million privatisation of the company.

    George Feldenkreis will buy all the outstanding common shares of the company not already owned by members of his family.

    “I believe that Perry Ellis’ ability to invest and innovate is limited by the short-term pressures of being a public company,” said Feldenkreis in a statement.

    “I am confident that as a private company, Perry Ellis will be best positioned to make investments in digital innovation, artificial intelligence and marketing, that support our long-term strategy to grow the company’s powerful global lifestyle brands, while expanding into higher-margin businesses and channels of distribution, including international, direct-to-consumer and licensing.”

    Once the purchase is complete, Feldenkreis will return to an active management role within the company, but oscar Feldenkreis will continue as CEO.

    “The completion of this transaction will enable Perry Ellis to preserve the integrity of its infrastructure and business units across the US and abroad. Our partners should benefit from our enhanced ability to make long term investments in brands, technology and innovation while continuing to remain focused on executing on our long-term growth strategy,” said Oscar Feldenkreis.

    Perry Ellis International manages a large portfolio of brands in fashion, fragrances and accessories, including Jag, John Henry, Jantzen, PGA Tour and Girlstar. The company was founded in 1967 and previously known as Supreme. It bought the Perry Ellis brand in 1999 and subsequently took on the name.

    Perry Ellis inks licensing deal for men’s underwear in south korea

    Perry Ellis International has granted Good People a licence to produce its men’s underwear and loungewear under the Perry Ellis Portfolio trademark in South Korea.

    Founded in 1991, Good People makes and wholesales underwear and loungewear products for men, women and children  in Korea and internationally. Its brands include 1st Olor, Bodyguard, Don & Dons, G-gear, James Dean, SexyCooki and Yescode. The company is also the licensee for Levi’s bodywear in South Korea.

    It is planned Good People will launch the Perry Ellis Portfolio line in autumn this year, says CEO Yoon Woohwan.

    “We see great potential for growth in the South Korean market,” says Perry Ellis International CEO/president Oscar Feldenkreis.

    Perry Ellis International is a US designer, distributor and licensor of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and fragrances. The company’s collection ranges through dress and casual shirts, golfwear, sweaters, dress pants, casual pants and shorts, jeans, active wear, dresses and men’s and women’s swimwear. Its brands include An Original Penguin by Munsingwear, Axist, Ben Hogan, Cubavera, Farah, Grand Slam, Jantzen, John Henry, Laundry by Shelli Segal, Manhattan and Rafaella.

    It also licenses trademarks from third parties such as Jag and Nike for swimwear, Callaway, Jack Nicklaus and PGA Tour for golf apparel, and Guy Harvey for performance fishing and resort wear.

    Perry Ellis has signed a licence agreement with Doctorstick Korea Co to design, manufacture, market and distribute men’s and women’s contemporary sport and casual shoes under the Perry Ellis brand.

    Currently the US brand has 37 product categories, spans more than 50 countries and generates almost $1 billion in global retail sales annually.

    “We are confident this joint effort will provide us with a platform consistent with our strategic initiative to expand the Perry Ellis brand globally,” says Perry Ellis International executive chairman George Feldenkreis.

    Doctorstick Korea plans to launch the footwear program through eCommerce platforms and television shopping channels in Korea in spring next year, and target an introductory full collection by the middle of the year.

    Established in 2007, the company also licenses the Flying London and Mono Cross brands in Korea.

    Perry Ellis International Enters Into a Licensing Agreement for Original Penguin

    Perry Ellis International, Inc. announced today that it has entered into a license agreement with Chun Yuan International Company granting rights to design and distribute Original Penguin by Munsingwear® fashion bedding and home products in the Philippines.  Distribution will include department stores, home specialty shops and E-Commerce sites.  A special capsule collection will launch in Spring 2017 with a full collection introduction in the fall.

    Original Penguin is an iconic American brand that mixes sportswear and contemporary fashion appealing to a style-savvy consumer who’s into details, but doesn’t take himself too seriously.     Perry Ellis International has signed an agreement with MRH SpaRotica Groupe (MRH) to introduceFarah China next year.

    The brand will be launched in department stores, free-standing stores and specialty outlets as well as online with third-party eCommerce platforms such as Tmall. The first free-standing Farah store is planned to open early next year.

    With street credibility, the Farah has creative brand ambassadors from art, music and modern culture who are empowered to become product developers, storytellers and educators inspiring millennials. The products are sold internationally through major retailers and company-owned stores, as well as online.

    “This is our first agreement for Farah in greater China and represents a major step in the expansion of the brand outside of the United Kingdom and Europe,” says Perry Ellis International chairman/CEO George Feldenkreis.

    Perry Ellis International, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Lifestyle Essences Inc. for the distribution of children’s apparel in the Philippines under the Original Penguin by Munsingwear® brand through standalone Original Penguin children’s stores as well as premium specialty stores.  These innovative products are planned to launch in Fall 2016.
