    Pertamina cooperates with state firms to develop solar power stations

    State oil and gas company PT Pertamina is teaming up with three other state firms in developing solar power generating stations (PLTS), a Pertamina spokesperson said.

    The development of new and renewable energy projects will use the idle land owned by Pertamina and the other state firms, Pertamina Vice President for Corporate Communication Wianda Pusponegoro said here Friday.

    The three state firms are PT LEN Industri, PT Energi Management Indonesia and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur.

    The cooperation between Pertamina and the firms is relevant to the governments target of developing 35 gigawatt capacity power plants by 2019.

    Hopefully, 25 percent or 8.8 gigawatts of the electrical power will come from renewable energy sources, he said.

    The government has set itself the target of developing power plants with an installed capacity of 5 gigawatts or 5,000 megawatts by 2020. Pertamina has committed itself to building solar power stations with a combined capacity of 1,000 megawatts.

    “The synergy among the state owned companies can hopefully encourage the realization of new and renewable energy projects in Indonesia, which will be started in North Sumatra with a target of up to 60 megawatts in 2017. The projects will be continued in the next three years to reach the target of 200 megawatts by using the idle land owned by Pertamina in several parts of Indonesia,” he said.

    Pertamina to launch new oil fuel products Turbo

    Pertamina will soon launch a new oil fuel product Turbo with Research Octane Number (RON) 98 to expand the market of its non subsidized oil fuels.

    General Manager of Pertaminas southern Sumatra Regional Marketing Operation Herman M. Zaini said the production of Turbo is part of the companys bid for survival amid the shrinking prices of oil now diving to as low as US$35 per barrel.

    “After the success in launching Pertalite Pertamina will soon come up with Pertamax Turbo to give more choices for the consumers of non-subsidized oil fuels, and to reduce the consumption of subsidized oil fuel,” Herman said here on Tuesday.

    He said currently Pertamina is focused more on business in the downstream sector as business in the upstream sector which normally contributes 70 percent to its income, has suffered badly with deficit as a result of oil price fall.

    The decline in business in the upstream sector, however, has positive effect as it forced Pertamina to innovate and turn out new marketable products in the country and abroad, he said.

    Previously Pertamina had only gasoline products of Premium with RON 88, Pertamax RON 92, Pertamax Plus 95, and Pertamax Racing RON 100, but now it also has Pertalite RON 90 and soon there would be Pertamax Turbo, he said.

    “Currently Pertamina exports lubricant oil to 26 countries including Middle east countries. And now Pertamina is seeking contract for supplying oil fuels for fuel filling stations in Myanmar. Tender is being in the process,” he said.

    If Pertamian won the tender, it will build 1,360 public fuel filling stations in cooperation with Myanmar state company Myanmar Petroleum Products Enterprise, he said.

    Pertamina Issues New Fuel Prices

    PT Pertamina (Persero) has issued circular letter on general fuel (BBM umum) and designated fuel (BBM khusus) prices in its Marketing Operation Region III.

    Based on circular letter no 518/F13410/2016-S3, general and designated fuel prices have changed at Region III Pertamina which consist of 27 public gas stations in West Java.

    New prices listed in the letter include a number of general and designated fuels, such as Pertamax, Pertamax Plus, Pertamina Dex, Premium, Non-subsidized Solar/ Biosolar, and Pertamax Racing. The change is effective from 12.00 am Western Indonesia Time, Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

    Listed below are new tariffs of general and designated fuels of Region III, also the details of base price, motor vehicle fuel tax (PBBKB) and value-added tax (VAT):

    Pertamax, Pertamax Plus and Pertamina Dex prices issued by Pertamina in West Java region have fallen compared to the prices announced before.

    Per March 1, 2016, Pertamax was Rp8,050 per liter, Pertamax Plus was Rp8.850 per liter, dan Pertamina Dex was Rp8.800 per liter. Whereas on March 15, 2016, the prices have been adjusted to Rp7.750 for Pertamax, Rp8.650 for Pertamax Plus, and Rp8,600 for Pertamax Dex.

    In Jakarta, the fuel prices have fallen, albeit insignificantly. Per March 1, 2016, Pertamax price in Jakarta was Rp7.950, Pertamax Plus was Rp8,850, and Pertamina Dex was Rp8,800. The figure has changed on March 15, 2016 to Rp7.750 for Pertamax, Rp8.650 for Pertamax Plus, and Rp8,600 for Pertamax Dex.

    Under the bidding proposal, Pertamina and MPPE would establish a joint venture to sell co-branded oil fuels.

    Pertamina would operate 18 fuel depots and 12 fuel stations across the Mekong country through the joint venture, Ahmad said.

    “We would invest $33 million for the project,” he said, adding that the deal would also open an opportunity for Pertamina to sell fuel to other independent fuel stations across Myanmar.

    Pertamina is also considering an offer from a Cambodia firm to sell fuel in the country. In Cambodia, Pertamina could sell its fuel under Pertamina brands and operate its own fuel station, but it could not have a fuel depot, Ahmad said.

    The state energy company have been trying to expand its downstream business abroad, in particular in the Southeast Asian countries.

    “Our targets is the developing countries because it’s easier to secure permits there compared to the more developed countries,” Ahmad said.

    Rini Soemarno, the State-Owned Enterprise Minister, said earlier that she targeted Pertamina to branch out to at least one of the Mekong countries by 2018.

    Pertamina has Pertamina International Timor, a joint venture with 4-Consortio Timor Progresso, to sell oil fuel, lubricants and liquefied petroleum gas in Timor Leste.

    The state energy company virtually controls Indonesia’s retail oil fuel market, thanks to its vast distribution network across the archipelago. That despite the government has opened the sector to foreign firms like Dutch’s Shell, Malaysia’s Petronas and French’s Total for more than a decade.

    Pertamina, Lamborghini`s joint research unveils new lubricant

    The Indonesian state-owned oil and gas enterprise, Pertamina Lubricants, has collaborated with the Lamborghini automotive company to conduct research on lubricants for and high-tech and superfast vehicles.

    “Pertamina Lubricants is committed to continuing innovation in developing its products to meet the needs of the automotive industry in Indonesia and the world. This is supported by research and development facilities, as well as production facilities owned by Pertamina,” the President Director of Pertamina Lubricants, Gigih W.H. Irianto said on Tuesday.

    Pertamina has been conducting joint research with Lamborghini for special lubricant products. The research has produced lubricants, such as Fastron Platinum SAE OW-40 for upscale cars, and Fastron Platinum Racing SAE 10W-60 for sports cars.

    The lubricant testing was carried out in Italy. The Fastron Racing Platinum lubricant has been tested and has obtained specific approval from Lamborghini.

    Irianto added that the reliability of Pertamina lubricants, which have received recognition from Lamborghini, was proven by the election of Pertamina as a technical partner of Automobili Lamborghini for motorsport named the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the Lamborghini GT3.

    “Pertamina Fastron is trusted and has been named as the official lubricant in every super Trofeo race and is fully supported by the Lamborghini GT3 team, which competes in world championships. This cooperation will continue for the 2015 to 2019 period,” he said.

    Pertamina Fastron has also been adopted as the official lubricant at 129 Lamborghini dealerships worldwide.

    “This flagship product has strengthened Pertamina lubricants existence in the international super car arena,” Irianto remarked.

    Pertamina Lubricants created the Fastron lubricant with nanotechnology. It is a high-quality synthetic lubricant that protects the engine, while providing reliability and optimal speed.

    The state-owned enterprise has also launched three other new lubricant variants, namely Fastron Gold 5W-40 and Fastron Gold 0W-20, for modern and advanced engine technology vehicles. Another variant is Fastron Techno 10W-30, which has been designed for daily use and fuel efficiency.
