    El Toro Tequila, a revered liquor brand, has recently unveiled a new line of compact, ready-to-drink cocktails, ingeniously designed to fit conveniently into a pocket. This innovative creation, aptly named ‘Pocket Cocktails’, offers a simple, portable, and engaging option for alcohol consumers on the move.

    The Pocket Cocktails line currently encompasses two distinct flavors. The first being ‘Emergency Margarita’, which is a classic margarita mix, while the second, ‘Pocket Paloma’, marries the flavors of blanco tequila and Bickford’s grapefruit cordial into a delightful blend.

    Michael Newbold, the Senior Brand Manager at Vok Beverages, emphasized their intent to simplify the cocktail-making process for the public. He suggested unconventional yet feasible alternatives for cocktail shakers, such as ice combined with a used mason jar or protein shaker, specifically for the Emergency Margarita.

    Even though the Pocket Cocktails’ packaging may denote a fun and light-hearted approach, Newbold reiterated their commitment to quality, stressing that these beverages are created with premium ingredients and meticulous craftsmanship. He underscored the seriousness with which they approach their drinks, despite their playful appearance.

    The innovative El Toro Pocket Cocktails are retailing for an RRP of $15 each and can be found at Dan Murphy’s stores across the country and selected BWS outlets.

    Portable power stations sought after amid load shedding

    Portable power stations have become sought-after items in northern Vietnam as unpredictable power cuts urged residents to store electricity in advance.

    Quang Minh in Hai Phong has been looking to buy a portable power station for his household, which has been experiencing load shedding of up to several hours at a time in recent weeks.

    The product that he plans to buy is made in China and sold at VND2.3 million (US$98). It can be used for many devices his family use regularly such as Wi-Fi routers, fans, rice cookers, and lamps.

    In contrast to power generators, the portable stations operate without noise and can be easily operated by both adults and children, he said.

    Users say that a station can meet a household’s basic requirement within a day.

    Vu Xuan Tung, an electronic store owner in Hanoi, said that in the past portable power stations are only bought campers, but recently many people buy them as a backup power source in case of power cuts.

    His store has been running out of power stations recently and sometimes customers have to order up to seven days in advance.

    Most stations are made in China, including some that are advertised to have a German brand. Their prices are around several million Vietnamese dong. Some high-end products can be priced more than VND10 million.

    A Facebook group of 10,000 members, which often sold battery-powered fans in the past, has changed its focus to portable power stations in recent weeks.

    Group admin Vien Duong said that power stations can be used for many devices, not just a fan, and therefore is preferred amid power cuts.

    A survey of nearly 400 readers on June 12-13 showed that around 53% were looking into buying a portable power station, while 7% had bought one.

    Northern Vientam has been experiencing frequent load shedding these days as hydropower plants were shut down due to low water levels.

    According to Tuan Minh, manager of Hoang Ha Mobile, the 15-inch MacBook Air M2 is attracting attention thanks to its large screen, and it is suitable to people who like compact devices, large screens for entertainment and basic tasks with at a reasonable price.

    Nguyen The Kha, mobile telecommunications division director at FPT Shop, said Apple’s new devices are expected to reach Vietnamese users in early July.

    Local retailers can deliver Apple devices within one hour, change faulty products within 30 days, and offer direct support on technical issues and warranty, the services have not been provided yet by Apple Store Online Vietnam, he said.

    Lawson unveils portable convenience stores in China

    Japanese convenience-store chain Lawson is launching a series of prefabricated stores in China.

    The brand will launch the service from this week, with the first outlet opening in Nanjing. Using the prefab structures will reduce construction costs by 40 percent and allow for flexible growth, the company says. Around 10 stores are expected to be operational by the end of the year.

    There are two varieties of Lawson’s prefab buildings, which were created in partnership with Panasonic. The stores have heat insulation to cut power costs and can be relocated to other areas if a location closes. The larger store layout is a little smaller than a regular 80sqm minimart, while the smaller is a kiosk suitable for transit stations.

    The stores may prove a viable counter to the rise of online shopping during the coronavirus era, owing to their ability to open in small areas that enjoy considerable foot traffic.

    Lawson, which operates 2700 outlets in China, has indicated plans to roll out prefab stores in Japan in the future as well.
