    Clarins Skin Spa opens at Singapore’s Ion Orchard

    Clarins Skin Spa opened at Singapore’s Ion Orchard last week. The luxury beauty brand unveiled its new home having spent the past 24 years at its former Wheelock Place location. The new outlet’s cozy interior of light oak, whites, and lush greens reflect the brand’s late founder Jacques Courtin-Clarins’ belief that healing begins from within.

    A launch event was attended by Clarins Group executive VP Southeast Asia Guillaume Nagy along with Clarins Group president of North America and Asia-Pacific Christophe de Pous and several celebrity guests.

    To celebrate the occasion, all 60-minute facial and body treatments given at the new location will be discounted from February 1 through to June 30.

    Tanachira Retail buys out HARNN for $30m

    International fashion and lifestyle brand distributor Tanachira Retail has acquired Thai health and beauty business Harnn. The THB1 billion (US$30.4 million) purchase is part of the firm’s moves to become a regional lifestyle company.

    Tanachira CEO Tanapong Chirapanidchakul said: “We will use our strength and expertise to expand Harnn’s business throughout Asia, with priority markets China, Taiwan and Japan.”

    Harnn products sell at more than 30 branches throughout Thailand and are distributed in 16 countries, predominantly in Asia.

    The acquisition, which covers brands, intellectual property assets, and business networks will help Tanachira to reduce risk from dependence on imported brand revenue. The firm will build brand awareness for Harnn among Thai consumers before building international partnerships with current and new dealers in new international markets, focusing on Asia.

    Tanachira’s CFO Aphichai Pholkosol said: “By 2020, we target Harnn contributing about 25 per cent of our total revenue at THB2.25 billion, helping us to list on the stock exchange in the second half of that year.”

    Landmark Hong Kong launches a new Beauty & Wellness space

    Hong Kong’s luxury shopping centre Landmark has opened a new beauty and wellness space, in a bid to bring a lifestyle concept of health to customers.

    Located on the third floor of Landmark Atrium, the newly named Women’s Beauty & Wellness Concept offers a “selection of specialists” to visitors, as part of Landmark’s ‘A Year of Wisdom’ campaign for 2017.
    “Wisdom is one of the essential qualities that defines beauty; after all, the modern view is that beauty stems from within,” said Landmark, in a press release.

    “It begins with getting to know yourself better and culminates in what we eat, what we wear, even how we travel – in addition to our beauty regimes.

    Encompassing this, the space is made up of four branded categories, designed to cater to women seeking food, fashion, beauty and lifestyle goods and service.

    Super Foods provides shoppers with gluten-free products and juices from retailers such as The Cakery, Catch Juicery and Verde Organic.

    Top-Flight Services offers quick beautification for time-pressed women. Customers can head to the airplay blow-dry bar and get a fast blow-dry or try their hand at an express manicures, before heading over to Careyou Beauty for semi-permanent makeup and eyeliner. Other facilities include facials at N°8 Organic Spa by Beyorg, teeth whitening at Smile Dental Surgeons, as well as lash treatments from Suavislash Couture.

    Finally, the At Home Beauty section will sell electronic tools and beauty gadgets via retailer The Artistry, while customers can pick up apparel and undergarments from the space’s Feel Good Fashion section, most notably with a selection of Caelum Greene activewear, Fogal leagwear and Sheer lingerie.

    To mark the launch of the wellness space, a launch event was successfully held on June 8th by the X2 Creative brand engagement agency, with the attendance of many Hong Kong socialites and bloggers.

    During the event, guests were treated to exclusive trial services and gift or redemption offers from twelve beauty and wellness specialists located within the new Landmark wellness space.

    Spa Ceylon opens nine POS operations in Asia

    Sri Lanka’s Spa Ceylon Ayurveda retail and spa company has opened nine new points of sale in Asia, including business with standalones, kiosks and airlines since it exhibited at last May’s Tax Free Asia Pacific show and it is expecting five more new presences in early 2017.

    Spa Ceylon says this progress follows the debut presence of its range of body, bath, beauty, aroma and wellness products to travel retail, which has been built on ‘success across ten countries with 55 boutiques and spas already in operation in downtown retail’.

    SPECIAL TRAVEL RETAIL OFFERINGS

    Commenting on the offering, company management said: “The all natural range of products offer a fresh new aspect to travel retail through Ayurveda-based formulae, using exotic herbs, fruits and minerals from their island home of Ceylon.

    AMBITIOUS EXPANSION PLANS

    “The vibrant packaging in jewel-hued bottles and gift boxes adorned with colourful traditional palace art makes the brand stand out and has soon become a popular gift purchase among travellers.”

    By contrast, the impulse offering comprises the Spa Ceylon Palace Art range which is a collection of lip balms, hand creams, soaps, solid perfumes, coconut butters and balms with rich tropical scents made with fruit butters, herbs and oils.The company describes the core of its travel retail offering based on wellness and impulse. It adds that the wellness ranges such as ‘Sleep, De Stress and Detox’ offer an array of products suited for travel weariness and wellness needs.

    GROWING TR FOOTPRINT IN JAPAN

    Spa Ceylon’s management says it has continued to grow its global foot print within travel retail and downtown retail with the opening of its first retail store in Tokyo in October 2016, followed by a 3,000sq ft flagship store in Tokyo’s premium shopping district in the Ginza in November 2016.

    A further 10 locations are planned in the next calendar year in Japan and Spa Ceylon also intends to expand rapidly over the next 24 months, reaching a milestone of 100 stores internationally by 2018, across 20 countries.
