Heinz And Smoothie King Launch Groundbreaking Tomato Ketchup-based Smoothie In Select Us Markets

In an unexpected partnership, famed condiment producer Heinz and beverage giant Smoothie King have come together to introduce a pioneering concept in the beverage industry – a smoothie that is based on ketchup. Drawing inspiration from the viral internet conundrum, ‘If tomatoes are a fruit, can ketchup be seen as a smoothie?’, this unique, limited-edition creation has been christened the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Smoothie.

    A Savoury-Sweet Blend

This one-of-a-kind smoothie is a blend of Heinz Simply Tomato Ketchup and typical fruit smoothie components like acai sorbet, apple juice, strawberries, and raspberries. The collaboration has resulted in an intriguingly tangy yet sweet beverage that has been described by both companies as an ideal “refreshing summer sip.”

The Vice President of R&D and product marketing at Smoothie King, Lori Primavera, spoke about the process of creating this innovative smoothie. She said, “After several months of thorough R&D, testing and tasting, we have successfully developed a savoury-sweet blend that honours the versatility of the tomato. Our constant commitment to nutritious ingredients and our Clean Blends promise is evident in every recipe we create, and this daring new blend is no exception!”

Kraft Heinz gives away bulk ketchup to Melbourne small businesses

Food and beverage company Kraft-Heinz is giving away 12-liter cartons of Heinz Tomato Ketchup to small business owners in Melbourne, including burger restaurants and other quick-service restaurants.

As restrictions ease across Victoria, the company says it wants to help business owners affected by Covid-19 lockdowns get back on their feet with complimentary product deliveries.

“We know that the Melbourne restaurant industry has been hit hard by the latest lockdowns, with small, independent businesses particularly impacted,” said Marisa Jones, head of marketing foodservice ANZ at Kraft Heinz.

“Whether you’re a burger bar, cafe owner or run another quick-service restaurant, we want to provide our foodservice community with an offer of assistance,” she said.

Eligible businesses are those located in the Melbourne metropolitan area, of 30 employees or less, privately owned and not part of a franchise group. The offer will be limited to one carton per business, who do not have to be an existing customer of Kraft Heinz.

Business owners can apply for this offer from Kraft Heinz here until June 30 or until supplies last. Each delivery will consist of a carton of Heinz Tomato Ketchup containing three 4-litre bottles.

    Foodpanda India ‘likely to close’

Foodpanda India appears likely to be shut down after parent Rocket Internet failed to find a buyer at a bargain basement price.

It’s the latest chapter for the increasingly troubled Asian operations of Foodpanda which last monthgave up in Vietnam after failing to win market share off rivals and in Hong Kong axed its upmarket spinoff brand Foodora, merging the two businesses into one.

India’s Economic Times reports Foodpanda is “desperately searching for a buyer” for the troubled Indian business, despite setting the price tag at just US$10 – $15 million.

“Both Zomato and Swiggy have been approached for a buyout, besides one larger horizontal company. But Rocket is yet to garner keen interest from possible suitors for Foodpanda,” another source told theTimes of India.

At the end of December, Foodpanda India laid off 300 staff , about 15 per cent of its local workforce, as it faced increasing competition from Zomato. The company said the redundancies were the result of achieving near 98 per cent automaticon of its ordering process.

The Economic Times reports Rocket’s problems in India are not restricted to Foodpanda.

“The Samwer brothers-led Rocket Internet’s interest in its Indian portfolio has been waning with most of its flagship firms, including FabFurnish and PrintVenue, being put on the block,” the newspaper said.

It concluded that if a buyer for the sites cannot be found the company would simply close them.
