Singapore’s VeganBurg plans US expansion with franchising

Singapore-based burger chain VeganBurg is seeking new franchisees to expand its business in California. The company will hold a franchising conference in Las Vegas next month, expected to be attended by many Californian companies and individuals evaluating franchise concepts. “VeganBurg has developed a passionate following from customers in Singapore and internationally and we have spent the last few years refining operations and investing in what has made VeganBurg a winner — our juicy burgers, fantastic staff, and world-class customer service,” said Alex Tan, VeganBurg CEO and founder.

“We are interested in meeting enthusiastic and dedicated people who are passionate about the environment and impeccable people support,” he added.

VeganBurg’s franchisees can be assured of support from pre-opening and training. An operations team will help new partners establish supplies of proprietary ingredients and products, assist with site selection and interior design, initial training and ongoing training support, product research and development, branding and marketing assets, systems, tools and processes.

Founded in 2010, VeganBurg has been redefining food pop culture and comfort food in Asia and North America with its 100-per-cent plant-based menu.

VeganBurg Indonesia to plan Asean expansion

Two VeganBurg Indonesia stores planned for Jakarta and Bali mark the first steps in a Southeast Asian rollout for the brand after its Singapore success.

The plant-based burger restaurant chain says it plans to open stores in other Southeast Asian markets under a franchise model.

The chain, the world’s first of its kind, currently operates four stores in Singapore beyond its single-outlet San Francisco base. It chose Jakarta and Bali, because VeganBurg CEO Alex Tan considers the concept a “natural fit” due to Southeast Asia’s “love for sustainability and the desire for a more plant-based dining experience”.

“We made the concept work in Asia – specifically in Singapore – then we put it to the test in San Francisco and the result was exponential!”

VeganBurg Indonesia will exhibit at Jakarta’s Franchise and License Expo Indonesia this week, represented by World Franchise Associates (WFA).

WFA COO Troy Franklin said: “With their 100 per cent plant-based burgers served in an inviting and comfortable fast casual restaurant format, VeganBurg offers a unique and genuine high-quality product for a new generation of health conscious and socially minded consumers and a great opportunity for Indonesian investors looking for the next big thing in international franchising.”

VeganBurg also plans to expand in North America and globally.

    VeganBurg relocates to US

Singapore-born vegetarian burger chain VeganBurg has shifted its head office to San Francisco as it prepares to launch its concept in the US market.

The five year old company has retained its original store in Singapore – at 44 Jalan Eunos – along with its home delivery and event catering services.

But now its main focus is on the US where it has established a new office in San Francisco and has its first restaurant under construction at 1466 Haight St.

“Our goal is to have a successfully running restaurant in San Francisco,” says Cynthia Riddell, VeganBurg’s head of marketing.

“San Francisco is our new home with our headquarters here, too. Customers and fans across the nation, something like 18 states, and globally, continually request us, which is really exciting news,” Riddell said in an interview with Vegan News.

The founders and management of VeganBurg consider San Francisco as a “natural market” for its innovative gourmet (and meatless) burgers, or sandwiches’ as they will no doubt be known in the US.

“Who we are fits so naturally in this city. VeganBurg is an innovative 100 per cent plant-based fast casual restaurant serving tasty vegan burgers with a fresh attitude. We love San Francisco, especially for its value of sustainably sourced produce and historical commitment to love, peace, and equality. There’s no better place to launch the new generation of the plant-based lifestyle.”

The new US outlet has been opened on November 1.
