    FPT Telecom Int’l, ViewQwest to offer one-stop DX services in Asia-Pacific

    FPT Telecom International partnered with ViewQwest on Nov. 30 to elevate their capabilities in providing ICT and digital transformation (DX) services in Asia-Pacific, especially for large regional retailers.

    Known as one of the leading providers of telecommunications services and technology solutions in Vietnam, FPT Telecom International (FTI) has formed a strategic partnership with ViewQwest, an award-winning Singapore telecommunications, network and security solutions provider.

    ViewQwest will work with FTI in deploying digital transformation services in Vietnam and Singapore. Both companies will be establishing colocation facilities in FTI’s data center, providing on-ground technical and engineering support to ViewQwest’s customers in the two countries, including for software and hardware installation and troubleshooting services.

  • ViewQwest to offer services over TM’s HSBB network

    ViewQwest to offer services over TM’s HSBB network

    Singapore-based fiber operator ViewQwest is expanding its footprint in Malaysia through a new partnership with Telekom Malaysia.

    ViewQwest, which currently has its own fiber network in parts of the Klang Valley and Johor, plans to use Telekom Malaysia’s HSBB network to significantly enhance its availability.

    Through the network reselling agreement, ViewQwest will offer services anywhere Telekom Malaysia offers its Unifi fiber service.

    According to the report, ViewQwest plans to introduce new broadband plans under the agreement in June or July. Speed and pricing will depend on available bandwidth and last mile infrastructure.

    The company will bundle Mesh WiFi products to new subscribers to ensure optimal Wi-Fi experiences, as well as value-added services including a geoblock circumventing Freedom DNS service.

    ViewQwest has revealed it is open to pursuing more joint ventures, acquisitions or network sharing partnerships aimed at allowing it to continue expanding in Malaysia.

    Singapore’s ViewQwest expands to Malaysia

    Singapore ISP ViewQwest has expanded into the Malaysian market, entering a high-speed fiber broadband joint venture with Malaysian telecoms engineering services company Televenture.

    ViewQwest has launched fiber and managed services for enterprises within Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle commercial hub, Bangsar South and Cyberjaya.

    The joint venture will also offer ViewQwest’s suite of enterprise networking and managed services, including the Direct Cloud Connect Service to allow Malaysian enterprises to access cloud services including AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud which are regionally hosted in Singapore.

    By the end of the year the company plans to launch a 1Gbps fiber service for residences in the same locations, which ViewQwest expects will be the fastest residential broadband service in the nation.

    The company will also offer value-added services including Freedom DNS, which is designed to allow customers to access geoblocked media content such as Amazon Prime, Hulu and BBC iPlayer.

    “We hope to enable businesses in Malaysia to adopt more cloud services by bringing down the cost of bandwidth and to empower consumers to enjoy gigabit-speed internet from their homes. There is also a huge market to tap for businesses who want to have improved connectivity between the two closely-linked nations,” ViewQwest CEO Vignesa Moorthy commented.

    “[Singapore’s] NG-NBN lets any ISP deliver services to 1.4 million homes without the debilitating cost of building its own fibre network infrastructure. Now we have the confidence to export our expertise and experiences from running a nationwide ISP service with uber high speeds of up to 10Gbps to other parts of the world.”

    ViewQwest exports Singapore fibre broadband network design to Oman

    Singapore’s fibre broadband service provider ViewQwest has exported its local network know-how to Oman, which plans to bring fibre links to some 90 per cent of homes in its capital city of Muscat and 35 per cent of other governorates.

    This translates to some 225,000 homes in Muscat, which is expected to start trialing Internet surfing at speeds of up to 1Gbps – or 100 times faster than current technologies – on November 18.Commercial launch is scheduled for an unspecified date next year.

    Oman has 500,000 households in total.

    The architecture of Oman’s fibre broadband network is similar to that of the Singapore government-backed Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (NGNBN), from which ViewQwest leased wholesale fibre capacity to provide a retail service.

    In Singapore, fibre links are brought all the way to homes with a termination point installed within the home. Similarly, Oman’s government-owned Oman Broadband Company is bringing fibre links to just outside homes. When a customer places an order for broadband service, the fibre optic cable is then pulled into the home with the installation of a termination point.

    “We are inspired by Singapore’s strategic approach to the implementation of NGNBN and we hope to emulate that success in Oman as we connect homes and offices nationwide,” said Ghaith Al Darmaki, programme director of Oman’s sole fibre broadband service provider, Awasr.

    “Our network has been built using the same equipment and methods as ViewQwest,” he added.

    Said Vignesa Moorthy, chief executive officer of ViewQwest: “We are proud of our role in Singapore’s successful transition to a smart nation and look forward to creating a similar experience in Oman.”

    ViewQwest is not the only local fibre broadband provider which ventured overseas. Late last year, MyRepublic started its fibre broadband services for business users in New Zealand.

    The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), which spearheaded Singapore’s NGNBN, said it is delighted that local companies are making waves overseas.

    “The learnings that these companies have picked up through their successes here will be instrumental in helping them address the global market opportunities to propel their international growth,” said IDA assistant chief executive Khoong Hock Yun.
