    Instagram could let you react with a voice message to a Story

    Instagram is allegedly working on a new Snapchat-like way for you to respond to your friends’ Stories. According to Alessandro Paluzzi (a developer who discovers upcoming new features by reverse engineering apps), Instagram is working on a feature that will allow users to create voice messages as another way to react to Instagram Stories.

    In a tweet, Alessandro Paluzzi shared an image coming from Instagram Stories. In Paluzzi’s screenshot, we can see that there is a new microphone icon located in the area where the Story replies are situated, which will most likely allow you to record a voice message and then send it as a reaction to an Instagram Story.

    It should be noted that although Alessandro Paluzzi has found the voice message reaction feature in the code of the Instagram app, this does not mean that Instagram will release the feature. Sometimes developers create a feature that, for some reason, they don’t implement into their application. There is also no word from Instagram about this potential feature.

    The new reply category that Instagram is developing is another proof that Instagram is trying to make its platform better. As we previously reported, Instagram no longer sends a direct message to a Story’s author when you like a Story. The change was made because Instagram wanted to make the DMs more focused on conversations between you and your loved ones.

    Facebook Messenger gets a Split Payment option as well as controls for voice message recordings

    Meta is introducing a few new changes to the Facebook Messenger app. In a blog post, Meta announced that it is increasing the duration of voice messages to 30 minutes, compared to the previous 1-minute duration, and that Vanish Mode, the feature that allows you to send messages that are immediately erased once they are read, should be available everywhere now.

    Meta also introduces two new features to the Messenger app: Split Payments option, which currently would be only available in the US, and voice message recording controls.

    Split Payments enables you to distribute the payment amount among every person in the group, or as Meta said, “split your bill evenly.” The new feature is available on iOS and Android, but only in the US.

    If you are in the US and want to use the new Split Payments feature, go to a group chat and tap the + icon. Then choose the payments tab and tap the “Get started” button. After that, select the payment amount, enter a personalized message, then confirm and submit the payment request.

    Also, according to Meta, if some of your friends in the group don’t have Split Payments set up, they may quickly add their payment information in order to send and receive money.

    Meta introduces the ability to pause, preview, delete or continue recording a voice message before you send it to your friend. Previously, you could only record an audio message and send it without the ability to preview it.

    As we can see from the snapshot below, the controls for the recording will appear as a soundbar illustration on which you can slide your finger in order to hear your recording. The “Pause” and “Resume recording” controls are located on the left and right sides of the soundbar, respectively, and the “Delete” and “Send” buttons are beneath the soundbar illustration.

    A report by WABetainfo reveals how WhatsApp’s global voice message player might look like. The player will be able to play voice messages that you have already begun listening to anywhere within the app. The picture shows that the voice message player might be situated at the top of the WhatsApp app and might include a progress bar that shows how much you have left from the audio message. The picture also shows a button to pause and play the message and another button to dismiss it.

    According to the report, WhatsApp’s global voice message player will eliminate the need to stay inside the chatbox in order to listen to a voice message. The player will be constantly visible and will appear on every page of the WhatsApp app, hence the word “global.”

    Because of its global function, WhatsApp’s voice message player is supposed to become very useful for listening to long voice messages. By using the player, you will be able to listen to a long audio message while, at the same time, chatting with other contacts.

    WhatsApp’s global player for voice messages is still in its development stage. At the moment, there is no official information on when this new feature will be released to WhatsApp’s users.
