    Carousell Expands Executive Team to Strengthen Operations and Leadership

    Carousell, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing classifieds, announced the appointment of industry veteran Su Lin Tan as Vice President of Operations, while Colin Bryar has taken on an advisory role. The new additions reflect the company’s steadfast commitment to solidify its market-leading position in the classifieds industry and to continuously improve user experience of our marketplace in the region.

    Su Lin, previously Deputy Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales Strategy and Operations at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), brings over two decades of leadership experience in digital strategy, marketing and the classified space to Carousell. Having overseen sizable advertising sales and digital organisations and working across complex organisational eco-systems, she was most recently associated with the launch of Singapore’s first and only digital publisher alliance, the Singapore Media Exchange, Su Lin serves as the Vice President of Operations to lead the teams in scaling up operations in Singapore and across the region. In her new role at Carousell, she reports to Co-founder and CEO, Siu Rui Quek.

    In his new advisory role to Carousell’s executive leadership team, Colin will focus on identifying opportunities for faster growth and providing a world-class customer experience for users across the region. Colin has successfully led digital platform businesses in all stages of evolution for over 25 years in various senior leadership roles at Amazon, IMDb and Alibaba-owned RedMart. He also served two years as Technical Advisor to Jeff Bezos. This unique blend of experience makes Colin a great fit for the next phase of Carousell’s growth.

    Morgan Tan to lead Shiseido China region

    Shiseido is boosting management of its Greater China business as part of a new strategy to boost is presence and sales in the region. Hong Kong-based Morgan Tan has been named as the senior VP of the Prestige Brands Division for the China region and will take up the new role on January 1. In her new role, Morgan will drive the growth of the prestige brands business in the China region under the new regional headquarters system.

    Morgan Tan has been with retail industry for more than 20 years, with experience in fashion, luxury and cosmetics. She started with Polo Ralph Lauren in Taipei before moving to Hong Kong in 2003 as the sales and operations director at Lane Crawford Hong Kong, gaining experience in leasing, merchandising and e-commerce. She was appointed president of Shiseido Hong Kong in 2015 and will retain that role along with her new one.

    The appointment is a key part of Shiseido’s medium-to-long-term strategy, Vision 2020, in which the company aspires to “be a global winner with our heritage” by ensuring sustainable growth in the Chinese market.

    Shiseido said in a statement that it will reinforce both the brand and corporate business structures in the China region “to enhance brand appeal to Chinese consumers and strengthen market execution”.

    Kentaro Fujiwara, as president and CEO of China region, will oversee the strategic alliances with emerging e-commerce platform companies across the region

    Newly hired Julie Chiang has been appointed chief marketing officer, overseeing Shiseido’s cosmetics brands and personal care brands.

    Other new China region appointments are Anson Yu as CFO, Julia Li as chief people officer, and Zaheer Nooruddin as senior VP, digital experience division.

    Satcom Direct to distribute Intelsat’s FlexExec service

    Satellite operator Intelsat has teamed up with business aviation connectivity provider Satcom Direct to provide in-flight broadband connectivity to business jets globally. Satcom Direct has become the first solution partner and master distributor for Inmarsat’s FlexExec service for the business aviation sector. The company will add FlexExec to its new SD Xperience portfolio.

    Under the agreement, Inmarsat will provide Satcom Direct with immediate access to Intelsat’s Ku-band satellite fleet including its high throughput satellites.

    FlexExec is designed to differentiate from the competition by not sharing capacity with commercial aviation or customer broadband customers to provide business jet owners with guaranteed provide seamless, on-demand connectivity.

    “We are delighted that Satcom Direct has chosen FlexExec to be a part of their SD Xperience platform,” Intelsat VP and GM for mobility Mark Rasmussen said.

    “The global footprint, resiliency, redundancy and flexibility of FlexExec’s seamless Ku-band platform will ensure that passengers can easily extend fast, high quality broadband connectivity from their office into the skies.”
