  • Porsche expands to property development in Asia

Porsche expands to property development in Asia

German automaker Porsche is partnering local developers to build condos costing up to $40 million per unit in Bangkok as it expands to luxury property development in Asia.

Its Porsche Design unit is collaborating with Anada Development in a 21-floor apartment block which will offer 22 units priced between $15 million and $40 million, according to Bloomberg.

The building, to be completed by 2028, will be Porsche Design’s first in Asia. It has previously developed properties in the U.S. and Germany.

Porsche’s building is among several projects in the luxury segment which is being developed in Thailand’s bustling capital where prices are considered to be more competitive then regional rivals.

“Bangkok distinguishes itself by providing an affordable luxury experience that many global cities cannot rival,” said Leung.

“In addition, Bangkok presents straightforward property ownership laws, a robust rental market and a healthy secondary resale market.”

Hong Kong has seen property values plunging by 30% in the last three years, while in Singapore foreigners have to taxes up to 60% on purchases.

A large portion of Thailand’s luxury property market is being snapped up by foreigners.

Foreigners bought 33% of the luxury condominium units sold by CBRE Thailand in the first half this year, up from the 25% recorded in the same period last year, the property consultancy has said.

Wealthy expats contributed to the growth in sales of luxury condos, unlike the broader property market, where most sectors have seen a decline in sales as banks declined a large number of housing loans, said Artitaya Kasemlawan, CBRE’s head of residential sales.

“Sales of super luxury condo units stood at 86% in the first half of this year, while those in the branded residence segment (condominiums managed by 5-star hotel groups) enjoyed 90% sales,” she said.

Super luxury condo units are those priced from BHT350,000 (US$10,300) per square meter or more.

Limited supply explains the surge in sales as there were only three new luxury condo projects launched in Bangkok in the first nine months of this year, she added.

Porsche Sold More Than 20,000 Taycans In 2020

Porsche announced that it has sold 20,015 units of the Taycan all-electric car in 2020. The company has been able to achieve this feat even after the disruption caused due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company had shut down all production activities for 6 weeks and this, when the company was ramping up production as many markets globally, were planning premieres in the coming months.

It needs to be noted here that Porsche sold a total of 4480 Taycans from January to June 2020, and 6464 units were sold in the next 3 months. Therefore in the first 9 months of 2020, the company had sold more than 10,000 units of the car and the next 10,000 took just about 3 months, showing how strong the demand is for the all-electric sedan.

Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG said, “The coronavirus crisis posed a great challenge from spring 2020 onwards. Nevertheless, we were able to keep deliveries comparatively stable for the year as a whole. Our fresh, attractive product range, the successful start of the Taycan as the first all-electric Porsche and the charisma of our brand – all this contributed to this positive result despite the difficult times.”

The Porsche Taycan is scheduled to hit the Indian shores as well very soon. We know that it’s good because we’ve driven the car and told you all about it. The Porsche Taycan sports two permanently excited synchronous electric motors that can churn out a maximum of 600 bhp and will a range of over 500 km thanks to its high voltage lithium-ion batteries. • Porsche Could Make More Than 20,000 Taycan EVs In 2020

Porsche Could Make More Than 20,000 Taycan EVs In 2020

Porsche has announced that it is on target to produce more than 20,000 Taycan electric cars in 2020. This is quite an achievement for the German automotive giant considering the pandemic has ravaged the demand for vehicles and also the fact that the Taycan is the first full-electric car produced by Porsche.

The pandemic hasn’t been able to slow down the sales of the Porsche Taycan. “Despite the closure of dealerships and factories during the first corona wave, we will exceed our original target of 20,000 vehicles sold this year,” said Oliver Blume, Porsche’s CEO in an interview with auto motor und sport.

This news comes a day after the company announced that the Taycan had broken the world record for drifting. It drifted 42 kilometres in 55 minutes in Germany using the RWD version of the Taycan that’s only sold in China.

The interesting bit is that the sales figures that Porsche is claiming indicate a revival of the automotive market. Till the first half of the year, Porsche had only sold 4,500 Taycans. Porsche then claimed that number had doubled by the end of October, which means in just two months the German automotive manufacturer is looking to double that figure too,  which is staggering.

The Taycan has been such a success that it has become Porsche’s best-selling car in Europe taking over the Panamera. Porsche at some point will look to deploy a 40,000 Taycan production capacity which will make it its best-selling car this year.

Porsche Sells More Than 10,000 Units Of The Taycan EV Worldwide In 9 Months

We saw the production version of the Porsche Taycan at the 2019 Frankfurt Motorshow and the car was subsequently launched in select markets. Porsche’s first all-electric sports car has been well received across the globe as the company has sold a total of 10,944 units worldwide from January to September 2020. These numbers are staggering and show the inclination of buying an electric sports car. Now another statistic which shows this sharp rise in demand is the number of units sold by Porsche in the first half of 2020. Porsche sold a total of 4480 Taycans from January to June 2020, which goes to show that the remaining 6464 units were sold in just three months.

While the sales of the Taycan could have taken off in the first half of the 2020, the coronavirus pandemic saw a markets and production come to a halt. With the opening up of several markets post lockdown, the pent-up demand for the Taycan seems to have kicked in and that’s why we see more cars being sold in the last 3 months.

• Porsche Panamera Teased Ahead Of Global Debut

Porsche Panamera Teased Ahead Of Global Debut

The 2021 Porsche Panamera is already making quite a buzz after it was crowned the fastest ‘executive luxury car’ at the Nurburgring circuit. It went on beating the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S at the Nordschleife in both 20.6 km and 20.83 km stretch. In a new video, Porsche has shown that the new-generation Porsche Panamera has set a lap record of 7:29:81. The company has also teased the new Porsche Panamera ahead of its unveiling on August 26.

We still don’t have all the details of this upcoming model but the lap record video confirms that the range-topping Panamera Turbo S variant is definitely on the cards. However, the sport bucket seats and roll cage that we have seen on the test mules won’t make it to the production model. The Porsche Panamera isn’t an outright sports car like the 911 range, hence focus will be inclined towards driver’s and passengers’ comfort, at the same time keeping the driving pleasure intact.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo is also likely to get a hybrid powertrain belting out 535 bhp and 770 Nm of peak torque. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S gets a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 iteration is expected to deliver 616 bhp and 832 Nm of peak torque. Now as far as looks go, it’s very easy for you to mistake it with the Taycan electric unless you spot the air dam at the front and quad exhausts at the rear. Like modern Porsches, even the Panamera will have an even wider track and expect all new elements like the LED headlights and conjoined LED taillights, new Porsche communication management (PCM) and Porsche Active Management System (PASM) among others.

A total of 64 countries and three international organizations have confirmed their participation in the expo in east China’s Shanghai Municipality. Porsche, which participated in last year’s CIIE, is expecting to show more at this year’s CIIE, said Puttfarcken.

“First of all, we appreciate very much that we had the possibility to participate in the CIIE last year. It was a good possibility to show as a pure input company, what kind of products, what kind of performance we have. Yes, we do participate this year at this CIIE again. And we are having the right offer to the car marketing in order to be successful also in the future,” said Puttfarcken.

  • Porsche Invests In Israeli Auto Tech Firm Tactile Mobility

Porsche Invests In Israeli Auto Tech Firm Tactile Mobility

Israeli automotive technology startup Tactile Mobility said on Tuesday it secured $9 million in funding from Porsche, Union Tech Ventures and previous investors.

Tactile Mobility said it plans to use the funds, which could grow to $14 million, to further develop its technology and data offerings and expand marketing operations.

Tactile Mobility develops software that uses a vehicle’s non-visual sensors, including wheel speed, wheel angle, RPM and gear position to help smart and autonomous vehicles “feel” vehicle-road dynamics and road conditions below their tires.

In addition, the company said it crowdsources data regarding vehicle-road dynamics from vehicles equipped with its software to create a representation of each vehicle’s characteristics that can help maximize vehicle longevity, and a road conditions and hazards map layer.

The company is collaborating with several manufacturers including Ford and Porsche as well as with municipalities and road authorities in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

  • Porsche To Use Holoride’s Virtual Reality Tech To Keep Rear Passengers Entertained

Porsche To Use Holoride’s Virtual Reality Tech To Keep Rear Passengers Entertained

Porsche has collaborated with Munich-based entertainment firm Holoride to come out with a special Virtual Reality (VR) based entertainment device for rear passengers. Recently unveiled at the Start-up Autobahn Expo Day, the immersive virtual entertainment tech uses a VR headset with sensors, which is paired to the vehicle so that its content can be adapted to the car’s driving movements in real-time. With this new tech, the German luxury and sports carmaker is trying to show what entertainment could be like in the future for the backseat passenger in a Porsche.

How this device essentially works is, suppose the car is being driven around the curve, the virtual vehicle that the passenger is traveling in, let’s say, for example, a space shuttle, will also change direction. The company says that this results in a highly immersive experience, which significantly reduces the symptoms of motion sickness. Although still in prototype stage, Porsche says In future, the system will also, for example, be able to evaluate navigation data to adapt the length of a VR game to the calculated duration of the journey. This technology can be used to integrate other entertainment services such as watching a film or even virtual conferences, the applications are many. Also, as Holoroid has an open platform approach, car manufacturers and content producers can customize the content to adapt to driving time, motion, and context.

Nils Wollny, CEO of Holoride founded the entertainment tech start-up at the end of 2018 with his partners, Marcus Kuhne and Daniel Profendiner. Using the Start-up Autobahn platform, the up-and-coming company has now shown that their “holoride” software works seamlessly with manufacturers’ vehicle data for motion-synchronized, real-time generation of virtual reality (VR) and cross-reality (XR) content.

Porsche will have the new VR technology on display and to experience at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, from September 20, 2019. Under the motto “Next Visions. Change the Game – Create tomorrow”, Porsche is inviting innovators and partners to the motor show to discuss the future of mobility.

  • Porsche Celebrates 10 Years Of The Panamera

Porsche Celebrates 10 Years Of The Panamera

The Porsche Panamera celebrates 10 years today and it was in April 2009 that the company first presented this Gran Turismo to the world. While Porsche initially planned production of 20,000 units per year, the Panamera clearly exceeded those expectations. More than 2.35 lakh cars have been delivered to date worldwide and the demand is clearly increasing. Put it was a tough battle to get this car on the production line. Porsche engineers kept coming back to this idea.

In the 1950s, they developed a comfortable four-seater based on the 356. The Type 530 had a lengthened wheelbase, larger doors and a raised roof at the rear. Others followed, including a four-door prototype based on the 911 and, in the 1980s, lengthened variants of the 928. Ferry Porsche used one of these as his private car. In 1988, Porsche made a new attempt with the Type 989: the four-door coupe offered space for two full seats in the rear. The drive power was provided by a V8 front engine. Design elements from the 989 were later incorporated into the 911 of the 993 generation. Like all similar concepts before it, however, the 989 remained a prototype. For economic reasons, development was discontinued at the start of 1992.

Then in the early 2000’s, Porsche conducted market studies, analysed the competition and decided to develop a four-door hatchback saloon and that saw the emergence of the Panamera. The Panamera’s first official appearance was on April 19, 2009 in Shanghai. The first model, internally known as G1, set standards in its class thanks to the wide spread between sportiness and comfort. It was packed with innovations: for the first time, a luxury class production model was offered with a transmission and start-stop system. The top model Panamera Turbo also introduced air suspension with additional air volume on demand, as well as an adjustable, multi-dimensionally extendable rear spoiler. The Gran Turismo also set the course for all other Porsche model lines with its new display and operating concept.

The model range grew rapidly and sustainably, culminating in an engine range covering power output from 250 to 550 horsepower with petrol, diesel and hybrid drives as well as rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. In the beginning, the naturally aspirated V6 and V8 engines were available with a six-speed manual transmission. Most customers opted for the seven-speed Porsche dual clutch transmission PDK. Diesel and hybrid drives were available in combination with an eight-stage automatic transmission.

Of course, there was a second generation to be made that it made its world debut on June 28, 2016. The development involved multiple streams: in addition to the Gran Turismo with a standard and extended wheelbase, a third variant was developed on the same platform: the Sport Turismo. From 2017, its avant-garde design and body concept brought more versatility to the luxury vehicle class.

Thanks to chassis systems like the three-chamber air suspension, rear-axle steering and the PDCC Sport electromechanical roll stabilisation system, the Panamera was as at home on the streets as it was on the track. This was underpinned by a lap time of 7:38 minutes on the Nurburgring-Nordschleife – set by Porsche works driver Lars Kern in a standard Panamera Turbo. The engine range was consistently optimised, while the power output values were increased: new engines were introduced across the range, and the transmission was now an eight-speed PDK. The power output spectrum started at 330 hp, today the top model is a 680 hp plug-in hybrid.

Now, for Porsche, it’s all going to be about electric mobility solutions and of course, the Panamera too has already gone that way. It’s just the beginning for the decade old Panamera and wait to see what more comes from this very capable luxury saloon.

  • 2019 Porsche 911 India Launched

    2019 Porsche 911 India Launched

The new-generation 2019 Porsche 911 went on sale in India today and we have all the highlights from the from the launch here. The eighth-generation Porsche 911 coming to India was internally codenamed 992 and retains the iconic silhouette that is distinctive to the Porsche 911 family. Furthermore, the car also comes with a heavily revised, more powerful range of six-cylinder turbo petrol engines. In India the new Porsche 911 comes in two variants as of now – Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet, priced at Rs. 1.82 crore and 1.99 crore respectively, very close to what we has expected.

The eighth-generation Porsche 911 gets an extensively re-engineered platform that uses generous amounts of aluminium in its construction in its rear section, for improved weight distribution. Under the hood, the Porsche 911 Carrera S is powered by the extensively 3.0-litre flat-six, turbo petrol engine that makes an additional 30 horses. The total power output now stands at 444 bhp.

The 0-100 kmph sprint time has been dropped under 4 seconds, with the new Porsche 911 Carrera S reaching 100 kmph from standstill in just 3.7 seconds. The 911 Carrera 4S does the same run in just 3.6 seconds and it also comes with all-wheel drive. The optional Sport Chrono Package further reduces the sprint by 0.2 seconds. The top speed on the Carrera S is rated at 308 kmph, while that on the heavier Carrera 4S is 306 kmph.

  • Porsche Cayenne Coupe Unleached

    Porsche Cayenne Coupe Unleached

We’ve been anticipating it for a while now from Porsche and it’s finally here. The Porsche Cayenne has taken the Coupe route and the company has revealed the Cayenne Coupe. The highlights of the new Cayenne model include sharper lines with a unique rear section, an adaptive rear spoiler, a rear bench with the characteristics of two individual seats. The new model also offers two different roof concepts, which includes a panoramic fixed glass roof fitted as standard and an optional carbon roof.

The front windscreen and A-pillar are shallower than in the Cayenne, courtesy of a roof edge that has been lowered by around 20 millimetres. Redesigned rear doors and fenders broaden the shoulders of this vehicle by 18 millimetres, contributing to its overall muscular impression. The rear number plate is integrated into the bumper, making the vehicle seem closer to the ground. With its adaptive roof spoiler, the current Cayenne Turbo was the first SUV to feature this type of active aerodynamics. The new Cayenne Coupé picks up that ball and runs with it. On each Cayenne Coupé model, a roof spoiler is combined with a new adaptive rear spoiler as part of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA). The spoiler – harmonically integrated into this model’s silhouette – extends by 135 mm at speeds of 90 kmph and up, increasing the contact pressure on the rear axle, while PAA simultaneously enhances efficiency.

The new Cayenne Coupé comes with a 2.16 m2 panoramic fixed glass roof as standard. A contoured carbon roof is optionally available for the Coupe. The centre seam gives the roof the characteristic look of a sports car, similar to the Porsche 911 GT3 ₹ The carbon roof is available in one of the three lightweight sports packages. These packages also include the Sport Design features and new, weight-reduced 22-inch GT Design wheels, seat centres in classic checked fabric, as well as carbon and Alcantara accents in the interior. For the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, the package also includes a sports exhaust system.

If you thought it’s pretty groovy looking on the outside, well, the inside is no different. At the front, the new eight-way sports seats with integrated headrests offer exceptional comfort and optimum lateral support. In the rear, the Coupé comes fitted as standard with a rear bench that has the characteristics of two individual seats. Alternatively, the comfort rear seats – a familiar feature of the Cayenne – can be ordered at no additional cost. Rear passengers sit 30 millimetres lower than in the Cayenne, meaning there is plenty of headroom despite the vehicle’s sporty lowered silhouette. The boot capacity is 625 litres – ideal for everyday use – and rises to 1,540 litres when the rear seats are folded down (Cayenne Turbo Coupé: 600 to 1,510 litres).

Under the hood of the Cayenne Coupe will be two high-performance engines. It will come with a 3-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 335 bhp and maximum torque of 450 Nm. The Sport Chrono Package fitted in the car achieves the standard sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6 seconds, with this figure dropping to 5.9 seconds with the optional lightweight sports packages. The vehicle’s top speed is 243 kmph. The top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo Coupe goes to the starting line with a 4 litre V8 engine with twin-turbo charging 542 bhp, and a maximum torque of 770 Nm. The Cayenne Turbo Coupe accelerates from a standing start to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 286 kmph.

The new Porsche Cayenne Coupe models are available for order now in the European markets. We have to wait to find out when India gets this model. We are sure that it will be very soon though.

  • Porsche Taycan Electric Car To Make Its Debut In September 2019

Porsche Taycan Electric Car To Make Its Debut In September 2019

The first purely electrically powered sports car from Porsche, the Taycan, will not be presented to the public until September and its final design is not yet known; nonetheless, according to Porsche there are more than 20,000 people around the world with serious interest in buying one of their own. The company confirmed this development at the 2019 Geneva Motor show. 20,000 people have already registered to join a list of prospective buyers – and registration are already underway in Europe. The Porsche Taycan will debut in September 2019 with a market launch scheduled for the end of this year.

The Porsche Taycan will have a range of more than 500 kilometres. The new Porsche Taycan will sport two permanently excited synchronous electric motors that are capable of churning out max power of 600 bhp and will juice out travel range of more than 500kms with its high voltage lithium-ion batteries. The two permanently excited synchronous motors, like those deployed in the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid, generate a permanent rotary motion that can be applied at any time without needing to be started.

The vehicle will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in considerably less than 3.5 seconds. It will have a range of more than 500 kilometers as measured in accordance with the NEDC. Moreover, it will be possible to add sufficient charge for a range of 100 kilometers in just four minutes (measured in accordance with the NEDC).

Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG says “The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are – and we’ve therefore increased our production capacities. The Taycan will be the most sporty and most technically advanced vehicle in its segment – a true Porsche.”

Porsche will foray into the electric car segment with the Taycan, and according to the company, by 2025 every second Porsche car sold will be with an electric motor. The Taycan will be the flagship electric product from Porsche and yes, the car will make it to India too by 2020.
