VivoCity launches Asia’s first instant parking-rewards programme

VivoCity has partnered with DBS Bank to launch Asia’s first instant parking-rewards program.

DBS customers can link their VivoRewards account to their DBS PayLah! account to earn points for purchases charged to an eligible DBS/POSB payment mode at VivoCity. Points earned will be applied to parking charges.

“We work closely with merchants across Singapore to optimize their payments journey,” said Jeremy Soo, head of DBS consumer banking group in Singapore. “With our focus on using digital technologies to perfect customer experiences, we are able to work with our partners to co-create seamless and hassle-free experiences for their customers across multiple touchpoints.”

The purpose of the new program is to bypass the usual “shop, scan, upload” method. Now,  by tapping onto DBS’ API and technology platforms, VivoCity can process eligible transaction information in real-time, calculate and award points instantly, increasing the program’s efficiency and accuracy.

“It’s long been a bugbear for customers, having to collect receipts and wait for days before parking rebates are processed in a typical mall. We’ve been able to achieve a new payment milestone by eliminating this process altogether, so customers are able to receive rebates instantly and can focus on enjoying themselves at the mall,” Jeremy said.

Head of retail management at Mapletree Commercial Property Management, Charissa Wong, said the introduction of the DBS x VivoRewards Instant Rewards Programme is part of an ongoing effort to enhance customers’ experience at VivoCity.

Marks & Spencer concept store opens in VivoCity Singapore

Marks & Spencer Singapore has opened a full-scale concept store in VivoCity bringing a vast array of its own-brand fresh foods and beverages to the city, some for the first time. The 15,500sqft store offers a broader range of fashion, a new food hall and fresh zone similar to the style of larger Marks & Spencer Hong Kong stores, a broader range of wines and the chain’s third coffee-to-go cafe in the city.

The foodhall features nearly 3000 products selected from the UK department store’s range building on what the retailer describes as a growing demand in Singapore for M&S’s convenience food.

Marks & Spencer Singapore has added a range of chilled foods and beverages, including perishables. The new store sells fruits, vegetables, yogurts, a selection of cheeses, fresh milk and ready-made salads and meals. Some products are new-to-market for the brand, including raw meat and pre-packed sandwiches, all air freighted from the UK daily.

The coffee-to-go cafe offers speciality coffee and beverages along with patisserie foods including cakes and fresh pastry. An in-store bakery produces a selection of breads, scones and cookies daily.

Fashion has not been left out in the VivoCity store’s revamp. Each fashion label is now clearly segmented, with distinct identities that allow customers to see which label best meets their personal style preferences. The brands are identified by different branding, visual merchandising and props. The VivoCity store will also be the sixth Marks & Spencer Singapore outlet to stock a kidswear range.

“Customers are at the heart of everything we do at Marks & Spencer and we’re delighted to be bringing our exciting new shopping experience to customers in Singapore,” said Christine Choi, CEO at Marks & Spencer Asia.

“Combining the best of our latest collections, together with our inspiring store environment and exceptional customer service, our store at VivoCity is truly special.”

Hong Kong lingerie brand 6ixty8ight is trebling its Singapore store network. 6ixty8ight Singapore will open new stores at Tampines 1 on December 1 and at Bugis Junction this week. They follow the brand’s debut at VivoCity in July.

The Bugis Junction 6ixty8ight Singapore store will take up340sqm of space, a little larger than the 270sqm site at Tampines 1 – but both are considerably larger than the first store, which is just 185sqm.

6ixty8ight was founded in 2005 by Hop Lun Group which has manufactured lingerie for many international brands for more than 25 years. Its strategy was to use its manufacturing expertise to create underwear for Chinese women. Such a course did not cannibalise sales from its manufacturing customers, which primary target western markets. It was the first time the manufacturer had developed its own label.

The brand, which targets women aged 15 to 30, has found a ready market in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea where its value offer and fun store decor has differentiated it from rivals. It now has more than 150 stores in the region.

Between 2014 and 2016, the company embarked on a rapid growth plan, expanding from 48 stores to 110, 20 of them in Hong Kong and the balance in Mainland China. Today it has 140 stores, having since expanded into South Korea, Taiwan and Macau. Its points of difference are carefully targeting women aged 15-30, focusing on lingerie, socks, nightwear and minimal casual wear to complement it (rather than trying to take on fast-fashion chains which offer broad ranges to both genders and children) and pricing. In Singapore the store will sell bras at S$13.90 and denim culottes for $39.90.

The 6ixty8ight Singapore store will feature the brand’s full range, including accessories.
