  • CapitaLand unveils Asia’s first AI chatbot concierge for shoppers at Future Cities

CapitaLand unveils Asia’s first AI chatbot concierge for shoppers at Future Cities

CapitaLand customers will soon get to enjoy a slew of virtual concierge services that allows them to hail rides, book restaurants, and browse retailer offerings by simply chatting with Sparkle – the Group’s fully automated artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot – the first chatbot piloted by a real estate developer in Asia. Unveiled at CapitaLand’s Future Cities: Asia Forum this evening, Sparkle is among a series of new features released on CapitaStar, Singapore’s largest multi-mall, multi-store cardless rewards programme. Members may start chatting with Sparkle from 1 November 2016 when the refreshed CapitaStar app is available for download from the App Store and Google Play.

Mr Lim Ming Yan, President & Group CEO of CapitaLand Limited, said: “CapitaLand was among the first in our industry to embrace online-to-offline and offline-to-online (O2O). With the launch of Sparkle and partnerships with tech stalwarts and well-loved retail brands, we are now leading the way into the next era of consumerism, defined by convergent offline-AND-online (O&O) experiences. This is a first for an Asian real estate developer, and we want to invite our customers to join us to co-create Sparkle by interacting with it and making it smarter. This way, Sparkle will be a chatbot trained by customers, for customers. Ultimately, we want to create an exceptional customer experience that offers the best of both offline and online. As a market leader with scale and depth across the entire real estate value chain, CapitaLand is in a good position to optimise our customer touch points and harness meaningful data points to map out holistic customer journeys.”

Grab, Southeast Asia’s largest ride-hailing app company, has signed on as a launch partner, which will see integration of ride-hailing functionalities with Sparkle. This collaboration is part of an exclusive comprehensive tie-up with Grab announced as CapitaLand’s Strategic Mobility Partner to bring ‘live, work, play’ mobility across its diverse real estate portfolio to the Group’s customers in Singapore. Whether it’s a journey from home to work or a trip from a serviced residence to a shopping mall, shoppers, guests, tenants and residents in CapitaLand properties taking Grab rides to or from one of its properties in Singapore will get to enjoy perks ranging from special discounts to STAR$® rewards in CapitaLand’s CapitaStar loyalty programme, and priority bookings, in phases from 1 November 2016 onwards.

Mr Lim Ming Yan and Mr Anthony Tan, CEO & Co-founder of Grab, inaugurated the partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Future Cities: Asia Forum. The MOU signing was witnessed by Guest-of-Honour and keynote speaker Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister-in-charge of the Smart
    Nation Programme Office.

Mr Lim said: “CapitaLand’s partnership with Grab shows how the lines are blurring be tween what is online and offline. Our properties are social spaces where people and communities flourish and connect; and mobility solutions such as Grab are very much the venous systems that connect people with one another, and to the built environment. There is great synergy in this O&O integration. CapitaLand’s physical buildings have helped to incubate many successful Singapore companies and brands over the years. Moving forward, we look to partner more new-economy companies, to help bridge their services to our network of
    customers.”

The Future Cities: Asia Forum brought together a panel of change-makers from the government, real estate and technology sectors to discuss what it takes to be the builder of future cities and the catalysts for change as Asia’s bustling metropolises evolve into smart cities.

During the Future Cities: Asia Forum, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan shared his insights into Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative, the lessons learnt as a forerunner in this future-forward drive, and what is next as the city-state engages with global innovators for continued growth. Also on the panel were Mr Lim Ming Yan; Mr Hubert Yoshida, Chief Technology Officer of Hitachi Data Systems; and Mr Ming Maa, President of Grab.

The new CapitaStar: upgraded with new functionalities and AI chatbot concierge CapitaStar is getting a boost with new functions to link up members and retailers with O&O convenience. The refreshed app comes with a simple digital-first STAR$® redemption mechanism that brings unrivalled convenience to both customers and retailers with simpler and faster processes. Customers can look forward to redeeming great deals with their STAR$®, which will be easily authenticated at the point of sale with a simple merchant app.

The app also comes with an enhanced machine-learning receipt scanning system to help shoppers get their STAR$® credited faster than before. Another key feature of the new CapitaStar app is the pilot Sparkle virtual concierge chatbot. It
is CapitaLand’s first endeavour into conversational commerce to connect CapitaStar members with other lifestyle services and forward-thinking retailers. Sparkle is designed to decipher localised linguistic cues while understanding and remembering context. The engine also learns automatically through intelligent feedback scoring algorithms, making the conversation
    smarter along the way.

  • Isobar showcases latest VR and brainwave technologies at CES Asia

Isobar showcases latest VR and brainwave technologies at CES Asia

At CES Asia 2016, which opens today, Isobar will be showcasing BVRAIN and UMood, two marketing innovations from Isobar, which demonstrate the agency’s capabilities in leveraging new technologies to provide brands with innovative marketing solutions.

BVRAIN are VR goggles that visualize the activity and emotions of the human brain. After a short scanning process, users are able to see a real-time abstraction of their brain in compelling and interactive 3D visuals. The system outputs emotional values based on the user’s brain activity. These values are also mapped onto the corresponding areas of the brain.

In addition to visualizing people’s minds, BVRAIN also allows for brain adaptive games and content. In a coin collecting VR game, users are able to see obstacles based on their brain activity. The entire journey will also be generated by their actual brainwaves, opening up a whole new area of adaptive gaming.

BVRAIN is the brainchild of Isobar Shanghai’s NowLab. The first application of BVRAIN was launched for Coca Cola’s Innovation Center at Wanda Theaters in major cities across China in April 2016.

NowLab is a new initiative by Isobar’s global network to accelerate innovation through technology. NowLab’s objective is to enable quicker application of world-class innovative technologies in clients’ brand marketing and create an innovative brand experience for consumers. Isobar’s NowLab project teams in 14 offices worldwide are currently collaborating on international product and technology development, striving to create innovative programs for clients and employees.

Francis Lam, Head of NowLab and Chief Innovation & Technology Officer of Isobar China, commented: “Technology is a crucial component of today’s market innovation. Using an unprecedented approach to discover the potentials of technologies, NowLab is committed to providing innovative human-machine interfaces, multi-screen interactions and various indoor/outdoor environments when our clients and consumers need us the most, in order to deliver a variety of unique and realistic innovative solutions. By combining VR with brainwave technologies, BVRAIN can create innovative, experiential programs for brand communication.”

UMood, a smart product selection system developed for UNIQLO by the Isobar Australia and Dentsu Science Jam, a Dentsu Aegis Network company, also debuted at the exhibition to provide visitor with a cutting-edge user experience which recently grabbed headlines in Australia and the region.

UMood is the first of its kind product selection tool, which uses neuroscience to help match customers’ moods with the perfect T-shirt. Consumers wear a neuro headset to watch a series of images and videos on the screen. The headset uses neuro analysis, measuring their brainwave reactions to the stimulus, to determine the user’s mood and subsequently make product recommendations based on that mood.

Sven Huberts, Managing Director for Isobar Asia Pacific, said: “We don’t believe in using technology for technology’s sake. When we are addressing a client’s business challenge, we are constantly looking for new ways to elevate the brand experience to deliver value to that particular challenge. UMood is a good example of what a Brand Commerce solution can look like, whereby you’re bringing points of inspiration and points of transaction ever closer together.”

Following last year’s successful debut at CES Asia™, Dentsu Aegis Network has expanded its presence at CES Asia this year, attending the world’s top consumer electronics show. The three-day event will see the network present 12 consumer marketing innovative products, doubling its presence last year. These products are owned or co-created by Dentsu Aegis Network offices in Australia, China, India and Japan. These technologies are centered on the theme of “Empower the Extended Self”, by using latest digital technologies including VR, robotics, facial recognition and real-time emotion analyzers.

  • Golden Pin Design Award Releases Stunning 2016 Call For Entries

Golden Pin Design Award Releases Stunning 2016 Call For Entries

As the call for entries deadline for Taiwan’s premier international design competition, the Golden Pin Design Award, draws close, organizers have teamed up with innovative local motion graphics studio, Bito, to create an insightful call for entries promotion video.

The stunning production provides local and international entrants with invaluable insight into the concept of huaren design, or design created for and within Chinese-speaking communities, as they prepare to submit their design works by June 30, 2016.

The video, dubbed “Earth.Heaven” by Bito, explores the Golden Pin Design Award’s 2016 theme of “Heaven and Earth” (天地 or Tian Di in Chinese), which is derived from the Chinese cosmological framework of the three universal elements of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity as highlighted in the ancient Chinese divination text, I Ching (also known as the Book of Changes in English). The dot (.) in the studio’s highly abstract creation represents the huaren designer flowing between the realms of Heaven and Earth on a constant search for inspiration.

“Design exists in our everyday life, and so in turn, design exists inside these ancient concepts of Heaven and Earth,” says Keng Liu, Founder of Bito. “In Chinese culture, we emphasize that Heaven, Earth, and Humanity must coexist in harmony. We wanted to make a video that was very fluid in its motion, and this relates to the way in which deeper aspects of huaren culture are expressed in everyday life. We didn’t want to create a realistic vision of Heaven and Earth; instead, we wanted to create something very abstract that would explain this complex idea of ‘Heaven.Earth’ in a simple way.”

Bito is intimately connected to the Golden Pin Design Award. In 2015, the undeniably successful studio took home five coveted Golden Pin Design Award Design Marks for their work for Acer, TedxTaipei, TedxTianhe, Planet Gift International, and their own animated company Chinese New Year message. Despite also being honored by numerous leading international award organizations, receiving recognition from the huaren community was particularly inspirational. “The criteria for the Golden Pin Design Award is born from the huaren perspective, which makes this award very special and very different to other design awards,” says Liu.

  • Markus Naewie of Victorinox – Interview at World Retail Congress Asia 2014

Markus Naewie of Victorinox – Interview at World Retail Congress Asia 2014

When my great-grandfather Karl Elsener opened a cutlery workshop to deliver a soldier knife to the Swiss army in 1884, he had a revolutionary idea in mind. He was looking for a compact and sturdy knife, which offered many functions combined in a single tool. What he invented has long become a legend: the Original Swiss Army Knife.Over the years, both customer needs and technology have changed. The Swiss Army Knife has evolved by responding to these needs, while remaining an essential tool our clients can rely on.That’s our story.

But it’s not what turned the Victorinox Knife into an icon. It’s about the stories our customers experienced in which our products played a vital role: stories about memorable moments of adventure and expeditions on earth, in the sky, and in space. Dramatic stories in which our products contributed to solutions and saved lives. Even stories of prominent encounters where our knives opened doors, helping to create ties between politicians, opinion leaders and nations.
