The team’s name, logo, and Berlin launch date of January 20, 2026, were all announced.

The partnership with Revolut was officially confirmed in July 2025 and extends far beyond mere logo incorporation. This collaboration places the British fintech firm at the heart of the team’s identity, aligning two brands known for their commitment to innovation, performance, and global influence. For Revolut, this alliance supports its goals to drive global expansion and enhance engagement across one of the most economically potent sports platforms worldwide.

    The Reveal of Brand Identity

Designed as an immersive event, the launch aims to exhibit Audi’s design principles of clarity, technical intelligence, and emotion, while also extending access to the public with an opening on the following day.

Revolut’s role also expands to the team’s business structure. Revolut Business will be incorporated into financial operations, and Revolut Pay will facilitate the team’s online merchandise store. This not only reinforces the commercial rationale behind the partnership but also showcases how fintech solutions can be directly integrated into high-performing organizations.

    Corporate Rebranding Indicates Long-Term Dedication

Audi Motorsport will replace Sauber Motorsport as part of Audi’s Formula One initiative, and the UK facility in Bicester will be rebranded as the Audi Motorsport Technology Centre UK. These modifications underscore Audi’s goal to function as a fully-fledged factory team while maintaining the Sauber Holding and Sauber Technologies brands to ensure continuity.

Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky views the partnership as a catalyst for expansion, stating that the team name and logo are the initial signs of a strong alliance that will spur Revolut’s global growth. Audi Chairman Gernot Döllner expressed that the unveiling provides the company’s Formula One dreams a distinct identity, encapsulating a powerful vision and innovative spirit.

Establishing Reputation Prior to 2026 Regulations Change

Team leadership emphasized both execution and timing. The Head of the Audi Revolut F1 Team, Mattia Binotto, underscored a culture of “precision and relentless ambition.” Meanwhile, Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley labeled the announcement as a “critical milestone” that concretises the project’s long-term objectives as Formula One braces for new regulations that will increase the electric share of hybrid power units to nearly 50 percent.

Close Observation by Investors and Strategists

To astute financial observers, the Audi Revolut F1 Team exemplifies how international brands are utilizing Formula One as a nexus for technology, sustainability, and customer acquisition. As Revolut targets 100 million customers and Audi positions itself at the forefront of electrified performance, the partnership signifies a wider shift: motorsport as a scalable business platform, not just a marketing expenditure.

  • Premium Automobiles Faces $9,400 Fine Following Audi Service Center Explosion in Singapore

Premium Automobiles Faces $9,400 Fine Following Audi Service Center Explosion in Singapore

Singapore’s car retailer Premium Automobiles has been issued a fine of SGD12,000 (approximately US$9,400) following a significant explosion at its Audi service center, which left a gaping hole in a wall and prompted the evacuation of around 100 people.

On September 10, Premium Automobiles admitted guilt for failing to promptly cease the operation of a malfunctioning lift that posed serious safety risks, as reported by The Straits Times.

The incident occurred on March 7, 2023, at the company’s service center located at 55 Ubi Road 1. An investigation into the explosion revealed that a waste oil tank, installed in 2002, was located in the lift’s machine room, a decision that would ultimately prove catastrophic.

Despite hiring a contractor to perform monthly maintenance on the lift, Premium Automobiles did not inform them about the presence of the waste oil tank. This oversight proved to be a costly mistake when arcing from the lift’s control panel ignited flammable vapors that had built up in the confined space, leading to the explosion.

In court, a representative from Premium Automobiles requested leniency, underscoring that this was the first legal issue the company has faced since its establishment in 1999. “We believed we were ill-informed regarding the need for approval for the waste oil tank,” the representative stated, adding, “We accept full responsibility for this incident and are committed to improving our safety protocols moving forward.”

While some might think an explosion at a car service center feels like a plot twist in a blockbuster film, for Premium Automobiles, it’s a sobering reality check that safety cannot be an afterthought.

    Questions & Answers

What caused the explosion at Premium Automobiles’ Audi service center?
The explosion was triggered by arcing in the relay switch of the lift’s control panel, which ignited flammable vapors from a waste oil tank that had been improperly installed in the lift’s machine room.

How did Premium Automobiles respond to the incident?
Premium Automobiles accepted full responsibility for the explosion, acknowledging their oversight in not informing their maintenance contractor about the presence of the waste oil tank.

What penalties did the company face after the incident?
The company was fined SGD12,000 (US$9,400) as a result of the explosion, marking the first legal trouble they have encountered since their founding in 1999.

  • Audi Delivers Over 1,00,000 EVs Globally in 2022

Audi Delivers Over 1,00,000 EVs Globally in 2022

Audi saw a significant growth in the sale of EVs in the year 2022 globally, as the German manufacturer registered a sales figure of over 1 lakh EVs in the year. To be precise, the Volkswagen Group-owned brand delivered 1,18,196 electric vehicles globally in the year, which marked an increase of 44.3 percent over CY2021.

“Even though we’re still facing global economic challenges, we’re looking toward the future with confidence,” said Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Marketing and Sales. “That’s because we’re going into 2023, during which we will accelerate the transformation together with an attractive portfolio, many orders and a highly motivated team.”

Audi saw high demand for all-electric models, including the Audi Q4 e-tron, Audi e-tron GT quattro, and Audi e-tron – which will soon be replaced by Audi Q8 e-tron. Not just globally, but Audi also saw a decent growth in EV sales in India, with the figure going up 27.1 per cent in the year 2022.

  • VW To Give Its Green Light For Audi, Porsche To Enter F1

VW To Give Its Green Light For Audi, Porsche To Enter F1

Audi and Porsche owner Volkswagen is likely to give the green light for the two brands to make their entry into motor racing’s Formula One at a meeting next week, two sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

“We will hopefully be able to communicate our intention to enter into Formula One then,” one of the sources said, with the second adding there was a “good chance” of a positive decision.

Volkswagen declined to comment. The news was first reported by Business Insider.

There has long been a talk of Audi and Porsche forming partnerships with existing Formula One teams, their most likely method of entry into the highest class of international racing.

Audi and McLaren denied reports last year that a partnership between the two brands had already been formed but said that it was under discussion, with a decision to be expected this year.

Audi will offer around 500 million euros ($556.30 million) for McLaren, one source said, while Porsche intends to establish a long-term partnership with racing team Red Bull starting in several years’ time.

Volkswagen has not previously been involved in Formula One but has worked with Red Bull, notably in the world rally championship. McLaren and Red Bull were not immediately available to comment.

A source told Reuters in November that Volkswagen’s ultimate decision will rest on whether Formula One follows through on its plans to switch to synthetic fuels by 2026, and on McLaren’s progress regarding electrification of its vehicles.

Volkswagen has invested the most of any global carmaker by far in electric vehicle production and batteries in an attempt to clean up its image from the Dieselgate emissions scandal and remain in line with governmental carbon reduction targets.

The decision comes as Volkswagen grapples with the uncertainty of the impact of the Ukraine war on its finances, which will also be discussed at next Thursday’s meeting.

  • Aptiv, Audi Invest $285 Million In Software Company TTTech

Aptiv, Audi Invest $285 Million In Software Company TTTech

Auto technology supplier Aptiv PLC and Volkswagen AG’s Audi brand are investing a combined $285 million in vehicle software company TTTech Auto, giving the Austrian firm a valuation of $1 billion, the companies said. TTTech Auto designs software that auto manufacturers can use to manage data flowing from sensors and safety systems used to automate driving. The company’s Motionwise software also helps engineers develop new automated driving and safety software more quickly.

Aptiv will invest $228 million in TTTech Auto, while Audi is investing $57 million, the companies said in a statement.

Established auto manufacturers such as Volkswagen are racing to secure more software expertise via acquisitions, hiring drives, and equity investments as they try to catch up with electric vehicle leader Tesla Inc’s ability to rapidly improve vehicles using software upgrades.

TTTech Auto was formed in 2018 by aerospace firm TTTech Group, South Korean technology company Samsung, Audi, and chipmaker Infineon.

“We want to provide aerospace safety at automotive cost,” TTTech Auto chief executive Georg Kopetz said in an interview.

Aptiv, with annual revenue of $15 billion, is working to expand its business by supplying hardware and software for electric vehicles and automated driving systems. Aptiv, Audi, and TTTech Auto collaborated to develop the central driver assistance controller for automated driving used in Audi vehicles.

With the fresh capital, Kopetz said TTTech Auto plans to expand in Asia, look for potential acquisitions and invest in the development of the Motionwise software, which is currently used in about 2 million vehicles.

  • Audi recalls 104 cars in Vietnam over lock nut issue

Audi recalls 104 cars in Vietnam over lock nut issue

German auto brand Audi is recalling 104 cars in Vietnam due to a lock nut issue on the rear suspension that could cause a loss of control and crash.

Certain lock nuts on the trailing arm of the rear axle can break due to corrosion, which can change the wheel alignment on the rear axle, according to a notice the company submitted to Vietnam Register.

If the rear axle suddenly moves in the wrong direction, the driver could lose control and crash, it added.

There has been no known accidents reported.

The company will contact each owner about a free replacement of the lock nut, which would take around 1.5 hours.

The recall lasts from Nov. 15 to Nov. 14, 2024.

  • McLaren Denies Being Acquired By Audi

McLaren Denies Being Acquired By Audi

Earlier in the day, reports had emerged that Audi had closed a deal to acquire the entire McLaren group. Audi had been exploring an acquisition of the McLaren Formula 1 team to facilitate its entry into the pinnacle of motorsport in 2026 when the new engine formula come into the sport. It had been open to the full acquisition of the entire McLaren Group that gives it access to the McLaren supercar brand. Audi, of course, already has a controlling stake in Lamborghini and the Volkswagen Group has been looking to enter the world of Formula 1 with its Audi and Porsche brands. Due to the pandemic, McLaren had faced many losses and was forced to lay off 1,200 workers.

Even though its F1 team has been on a revival and its financials have improved with external funding, last month the supercar maker also lost its longtime CEO Mike Flewitt who ran the main motorcar brand while its Applied sciences division was already sold.

Volkswagen Group has been looking to enter the world of Formula 1 with its Audi and Porsche brands

While Audi seems keen, McLaren has come out and rubbished all these claims. “McLaren Group is aware of a news media report stating it has been sold to Audi. This is wholly inaccurate and McLaren is seeking to have the story removed. McLaren’s technology strategy has always involved ongoing discussions and collaboration with relevant partners and suppliers, including other carmakers, however, there has been no change in the ownership structure of the McLaren Group,” the company said in an official statement.

ly denied the report which originated from Autocar. “As part of our strategic considerations, we are constantly looking at various cooperation ideas,” said an Audi spokesperson in response to the Autocar report. Porsche is looking at a partnership with Red Bull for its powertrains division while Audi had been planning to acquire a team and McLaren was the one on top of its list. If it can’t get McLaren, it will be looking at either Sauber or Williams which are now the last of the three independent teams left in the sport.

For Audi, McLaren is very attractive. Apart from being the third most successful F1 team in history, it is a storied supercar brand. Its team is also now back on the upswing with a great set of drivers in Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. What’s interesting is if an acquisition were to happen what will happen to the McLaren brand which counts F1 core to its identity?

  • Audi India To Launch At Least Three More Cars This Year

Audi India To Launch At Least Three More Cars This Year

German luxury carmaker Audi is likely to launch at least three more cars in India this year. The company launched the new Audi RS 5 Sportback in India, its fifth model after the A4 facelift, S5 Sportback, the all-electric e-tron and e-tron Sportback. During a post-launch interaction, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India hinted that the Ingolstadt-based carmaker has a strong product strategy in place for India, and as many as three more launches can be expected before the end of 2021.

When asked about upcoming product launches Dhillon said, “Last month we did three cars launches, and (RS 5 Sportback) this month, and very soon we’ll again be facing each other with another launch, then another launch, and then another. So, successively you’re going to see many more cars coming.” In July Audi launched two variants of the all-electric e-tron – e-tron 50 and e-tron 55, along with its coupe version, the e-tron Sportback 55. And this month, the company has launched the Audi RS 5 Sportback.

While Balbir did not mention which models are coming to our shores, we can expect at least one of them to be an electric car. In July, post the launch of the e-tron range, Dhillon told carandbike that the company will bring at least one more electric car to India this year. While details regarding the upcoming EV model were not shared, globally the e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT four-door coupe sedans are the only electric models on sale, apart from the e-tron SUVs. So, chances of one of them, or both coming to India are very much plausible.

Audi S5 Sportback Added To The Company’s Official Website Ahead Of Launch

Audi India, which is all set to launch the S5 Sportback this month, has listed the upcoming coupe sedan in its official website. The carmaker announced the arrival of the S5 Sportback last month, at the launch of the new Audi Q2, with a teaser image confirming a November 2020 launch. However, the fact that the company has now added the car to its website, indicates that the launch is imminent. The new Audi S5 Sportback will be the sixth and last launch from the Ingolstadt-based carmaker in India for the year 2020.

In line with the company’s current trend, the upcoming Audi S5 Sportback will also be petrol-only model, and it will be powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI engine that delivers 349 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, propelling the coupe sedan to sprint from 0-100 kmph in about 4.5 seconds. The Audi S5 Sportback also comes with sport suspension, along with standard Audi drive select with four different modes – comfort, auto, dynamic and individual.

Visually, the new S5 Sportback will come with the company’s signature single-frame grille with large honeycomb pattern design, flaunting the four-ring logo and the S5 badging. The cabin also comes with wide aircon vents, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, signature Audi-style automatic shifter lever with paddle shifters, and sport seats.

The automaker is gearing up to introduce the RS Q8 by the end of this month or in early September. The automaker also commenced online sales and service of its vehicles in May this year in the wake of the lockdown. More recently, the company announced the ‘One App’ that caters to the needs of new and existing customers.

  • Audi Dealership Destroyed In The Beirut Explosion

Audi Dealership Destroyed In The Beirut Explosion

It’s been over a week since the explosion at the Beirut port in Lebanon, and the damage to the people, economy and the city at large is insurmountable. The extent of the destruction is devastatingly visible in the form of this Audi dealership that’s been reduced to rubble in the aftermath. The image shared by Hildegard Wortmann – Member of the Board of Management of Audi AG for Marketing and Sales, shows the completely destroyed dealership surrounded by towers on either side with shattered glass. She further revealed that while the employees at the dealership are safe, many of them have lost their homes. Not just Audi but most auto dealerships and other businesses in areas close to the port have been destroyed due to the blast.

In a post on social media, Hildegard Wortmann wrote, “It is with great sorrow that I wish to express my deepest sympathy to our Audi team in Beirut and to everybody there who is suffering from this unbelievable tragedy. I have been in contact with Nabil Kettaneh, who is our Audi importer and partner in Beirut, immediately the morning after and so grateful to hear that everybody is safe while our dealership has been completely destroyed. Many of our team have lost their homes and their families have been impacted. Your grief is the grief of the whole Audi family worldwide. Our thoughts and compassion are with you and the victims’ families. May strength and confidence be with you!”

In fact, images and videos which emerged on the internet further show massive destruction to homes and cars. A video of what appears to be a dealership parking lot in the city shows damaged Audi vehicles that were ready to be delivered to customers, adding millions to the overall damage. Not just Audi, but other automakers have suffered equal levels of destruction. Carmakers including Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Suzuki, Ford, Seat among others took to social media to show support for the city.

The extent of damages as a result of the explosion has been estimated at about $10 billion so far and the number is only expected to go higher, according to a report by Bloomberg. As of August 11, the blast resulted in over 200 fatalities and 110 people are missing, with over 6000 injured. The explosion has also rendered over 200,000 people homeless or living with homes with shattered windows and doors. Beirut was also home to several refugees in the Middle-East that have once again been rendered homeless amidst the massive crisis.

  • Audi Vietnam recalls SUVs to fix loose fender trims

Audi Vietnam recalls SUVs to fix loose fender trims

Audi Vietnam is recalling 618 Q5 SUVs to fix loose rear wheel fender trims that could be a road hazard if they detach.

The affected Q5 vehicles were manufactured between January 2017 and August 2019 in Mexico, according to Audi Vietnam’s filing with Vietnam Register, the vehicle registration, inspection and quality control agency of the Ministry of Transport.

Due to errors in the assembly process, a piece of the rear wheel fender trim may loosen during use and eventually detach from the SUV, and could become a hazard to other vehicles on the road, Audi Vietnam said in its filing.

Audi Vietnam said it has so far not recorded cases of the piece falling off, but urged customers to take their vehicles to Audi Vietnam’s authorized dealers as soon as possible, who will secure the trim piece free of charge. This would take about 30 minutes, the company said.

The recall program will take place from February 25, 2020 to February 25, 2023. Audi Vietnam said it will also service cars that were not officially imported but brought into the country individually (like diplomatic vehicles, for instance), upon receiving approval from the parent company.

Audi opened its first dealership in Saigon in 2008, and now possesses three dealerships, the other two in Hanoi and Da Nang. It does not publish official sales figures in Vietnam.

  • Audi To Launch Only New Models In India

Audi To Launch Only New Models In India

Audi India kept Indian customers waiting for new models for quite some time. That said, the German carmaker now has a new plan in place and is gearing up to bring only new models or new generation models to our shores, and it has already started with the Audi Q8. The company also shared that Audi will be focusing on petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric models in the Indian market and its future launches will adhere to the plan.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head- Audi India said, “We will only launch all-new models like the Q8 or new generation models in India going forward and we have quite a few products in the pipeline. On the onset of the BS6 norms, our focus will be on petrol models followed by plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. Around 30-35 percent of our sales come from petrol models and that ratio should go up.”

The Audi Q8 was launched in India on January 15 and will be sold as a completely built unit (CBU). Audi had also launched the new-generation A6 in India last year in October and is gearing up to launch the new-generation A8 next month. We have already seen spy images of a slew of Audi cars undergoing testing like the next-generation A7 Sportback, next-generation Audi Q7 and RS6 and all new models are headed to our market as well after their global launch. Audi India has also chalked out a long term plan for the Indian market which is internally called ‘Strategy 2025’. The foundation of the Strategy 2025 primarily relies on four pillars- Customer Connectivity, New Products, Network Expansion and Digitalisation.

Dhillon also mentioned about setting up more dealerships across India to expand its reach in the market and digitalization will play a key role in connecting to its customers. However, the company has not disclosed any target as yet. Moreover, upcoming Audi cars will also feature connected car tech which apart from being trendy, will also keep customers connected to the services on the go. As we have already reported earlier, the German carmaker is also gearing up to foray into the electric space in our market this year with the launch of the e-Tron electric SUV.
